Wow, I am in one of those flares that the pain is so intense that I am having trouble breathing.
Do all of you get the pain in the abdomen? It seems to start there for me, then the bladder pain, then the pain all the way down my legs and around to my back. Pain meds are not doing anything to help.
I never understand that abdomen pain and all my doctors (except for Urologist) tell me the pain in my back is not related to IC but I know it is.
Just real tired of this.

Make sure you don't have an infection and if this is a new pain and that severe you should check with your Dr. Hugs coming your way. grouphug

Hi Ginny, I totlly understand with the back pain, I have never had back pain untill now, and I know I am sure mine is IC related. I know what you mean and Brat, at times I used to just curl up in a ball, and feel so bad. Now touch wood, and cross fingers, the meds I am on, really seem to help the pain, but not unfortunately the back. My heating pad gets used a lot, on my back and my side which also bothers me a lot, never did before IC. Take care and soft hugs, let us know how you are doing Iris. hi grouphug

I know just what you're talking about when you say the pain is so bad it hurts to breathe, let alone move and get up to pee. Those are the days I lay still with my heating pad and pray. Recently my uro sent me to a pain specialist and that's helping. The valium and percodan from uro were no longer helping and the stronger meds do. So, if you haven't seen a pain specialist yet I highly recommend. I really dragged my feet but am now glad that I'm relief. My system is still adjusting to new meds so I'm groggy most of the time and sleep a lot. I'm not driving, wouldn't do that.

My frequency and urgency is way down, it's the sharp stabbing pain in my pelvis and abdomen that's the worst. My pain dr. has suggested a nerve block and I'm reading up on that.

Do any of you get the abdominal pain that I mentioned? It's so bad. I'm asking because I really don't know which of my many illnesses it is coming from. Could also be colitis. I don't know anymore.
Back pain - I got a prescription for Lidoderm patches that I use on my back for IC pain. They help a lot.

Hi Ginny, got your PM. What are Lidoderm patches for, the pain itself in the back. Right now I have one of the Bodi Heat patches from the ICN on my back and it feeels great. Tell me more about the patches, thanks for the PM, hugs Iris. hi hat

Mum Iris,

I used Lidoderm patches and they did nothing for me. I used them on my abdomen for bladder pain. They are just lidocaine in patch form. Wet and sticky, they just numb the area affected.

Hi Jess,thanks for letting me know about the lidoderm patch. I know right now I just put on one of the bodi heat stick ons and they help. Also got one of the microwaveable warm whiskers, through the ICN shop, the lamb and tried that last night, seemed to work really well on my side that is painful at times. I get pain from the bottom of my ribs right on down to the pelvic area... banghead .... I wished they made one shot or cortizne and could give it to me and my hole body would stop hurting... lmao

Hi gals, and thanks for the well wishes, I feel for you Cindy, I know just with my side and back hurting, and the bladder pressure is enough. I wish they could give you something to help you, especially with your whole body hurting. Lidoderm patches just numb the area. No, it does not work for actual IC pain but it helps a lot for the pain that travels to my back. I have had to put 2 on at times. One on each side. Yes, they are cold and sticky but when you are in that much pain you don't care.
