LTD/SSD do you apply for both?

My company has a long term disablitily insurance thur Prodential, my question is do I have to apply also for SSD or not? In my paperwork it ask if I have applied for or entitled to Social Security. I wasn't sure if I had LTD insurance so I order the disability packet and have been working on gathering my info before appling.
Can anyone help?

A few days ago I got approved for Long Term Disability through MetLife, they said that I have to apply for SSD and when I get approved I have to pay them back.

Makin' It could really shed some light on this topic! She went through hell and back while dealing w/ her LTD carrier, attorney's office and the SSA! Hopefully she'll chime in...

Stacey thanks for the info, I'm not sure if it's the same as Prodential but I'm sure it's close to same formation as all LTD; keep me posted on how you are doing and please PM me anytime.
