Today was my first visit to the pain clinic for lower back pain that also goes down my leg..I am having major lower back pain and burning type feeling and then also pain down my entire left leg that is cramping and also at times goes numb...I had a Cat Scan done and it showed a bulging disc, also had an EMG which showed some slowing of the L5-S1 nerve..I am having a Lumbar Epidural Injection done on Monday and wondered if anyone has had it done and what I could expect...They said I would have the 1st one done Monday and then a 2nd one done in 2 weeks..Kinda scared to have this procedure done cause scared it will cause me alot of pain doing it..If anyone can give me some clue to what to expect I would appreciate it...Thanks

Today I had the lumbar epidural injection for my lower back and leg pain..Right now I am kinda numb still though I am starting to feel some after procedure pain..I am hoping that this procedure is gonna give me some relieve cause I have been in alot of pain lately and it is interfering big time in my life and the things I can do..I am tired of not being able to stand long enough and walk to do my grocery shopping...feel totally helpless at times with this pain..So lets just pray this works..Has anyone had this procedure done? I am having a 2nd one done again on April 19th..Right now just trying to take it easy and see what happens...

:hi: Sorry I can't help you on this one. But you may want to check in the Nerve Block Forum...there are some posts there that may be what you're looking for

I was going to suggest the same thing Briza did; sorry, I just don't know anything about this procedure but I do want to send you good wishes and let you know I will be thinking of you and hoping for a good outcome.

I just moved the thread to the Nerve Block forum, where you should get more answers.

Sorry I cant help you with this either... I have also never had one. But, I hope that it goes well for you and brings you alot of relief. I hope that someone who has had this done will post something soon so you will have an idea of what to expect.
Wishing you well,

Sorry Jennifer. I just saw this thread now. I have not been on the website for awhile. I had many nerve blocks. It did not hurt or make me worse.
I did the first set for the IC. I got a little relief but not enough.
Last year I did the nerve blocks for a herniated disc and they did help.
Hope you get some help. Let me know if you have other questions.

I had 3 shots in Nov. They help some people and others they don't help at all. They helped me some, but pain came back. I don't want this procedure again because it gave me a horrible spinal headache for over a week, and problems with migraines thereafter. The bloodpatch was a horrible experience as well as the myelogram. the contrast dye probably gave me tdouble. But my pain was helpel for a little while. be careful. Hope all goes well.

Hi Jennifer,
I was just wondering how your back is doing? :hi:
I've been flaring for several weeks. 24-7 during this flare I too have been suffering really bad lower back pain, with pain that goes down my left butt cheek and the front of my left leg. I'm going to ask my Uro if he will let me try valium suppositories. Today started some stretching exercises for lower back pain and tonight I'm using a heating pad. I wish I could take some Advil, but I'm concerned the IB will irritate my bladder.
Let us know how things are going :)
