Ok all you snap-happy peeps, here's a new thread that needs some action.
Since I started the new thread I might as well be the first to post..if not me, who? if not now, when?...:hmm:

Spring, I do believe, has made its arrival here in the mid-Atlantic region of the good ol' U.S.of A.....

my dogwood makes an appearance......

Now, who's next? Tracey? Janie? Sharon? Robin? Andrea? Rosalie? Anybody?......

Diana,
Gorgeous dogwood photo! Do you know if they come in a pink almost purple variety? We drove to KY last weekend and all along the highway there were some gorgeous pinkish purple flowering trees and I wondered if they might be dogwoods?

Meme,
That is a perfect sunset!! Makes me long for a tropical vacation!

dg2901

Janie--dogwoods do in fact come in a pink variety. There's a house a few doors down from me that has a few pink dogwoods mixed in with their white ones. I'll have to remember to take a pic once they start to bloom. :)

Meme--lovely sunset photo! Theres nothing quite like the sun arriving or departing in our individual corners of the world. If you're a sunset/sunrise fanatic I'd recommend checking out a group on Flickr titled 'Sunsets and sunrises around the world'.

Hope everyones well!

Meme, I love sunset and sunrise shots, they always have an air of grandeur about them.
Diana, how about a shot of the whole dogwood plant? The flower looks similar to a plant here by a different name. And with your spring comes our autumn, my favourite time of the year.
David and I just got home from the caravan and camping show. After picking out the camping trailor that we want to buy (but can't afford), are planning the autumn holiday that we can't afford either! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Alas! daughter had the digital at college today otherwise I could have posted a picture.....we CAN afford that.

Yay! I love to see dogwoods!! I just think they are so pretty. :) Hmmm, gonna take the camera with me to work today I do believe so that I have something to post, lmao!!

Oh I too love sunrise and sunset pictures, they are so calming I think! You'd think since I live on what they call the "Sunrise Side" of this state, that I'd have more of those, but like, that involves EARLY morning...ew. Sunsets easier... ha ha ha ha!!!! ;)

I love camping Ro, one my fave things to do. We can't afford a trailer at all at present, can't say when we ever will, ha ha! :) I started out tent camping, paid my dues with that then when I was married the first time we had an older trailer and went all the time. I will never go back to tents again!!!! :) :)

You people and the camping..:loco: .I'm almost 39 and have never been camping. I have no desire to ever go either as I'm deathly afraid of ticks!..:help:..I'm cringing just typing the words!! I'm now in full-blown heebee jeebee mode!!!..UUUGGGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!
Give me a Holiday Inn!!

<walks away completely freaked out>
D
PS--Tracey, did you remember to take your camera with you to work today? And if so, have you used it????? :hmm:

traceann
03-29-2007, 09:21 AM
Gee D, guess what I forgot to take with me to work today? UGH!!!

Oh camping is fun! And that's why you wear repellant -to keep the littel buggers off of you!! I have only had one on me, and it wasn't the dreaded sort, but still I totally freaked out, omg, it was huge! But it was just on me, not settling in or anything. It was quite a few years ago too, our Upper Pennisula was having a horrible time with them up there, ugh. They were everywhere, and we were on a work camping trip, so it was me - the camp cook, lol, and the guys. I thought to bring along repellant, and they all laughed at me - until one saw one on him, it was on his stomach and headed south, lmao! I have never laughed so hard in my life - from then on I kept hearing "Tracey, do have anymore bug stuff?" ha ha ha!!!!

Tracey, my irises (how do you pluralize iris??) have started blooming. I will have to remember to take a picture. Have your's started coming up yet?

Janie...The purple trees are probably redbuds. They are blooming all over right now. We took my son and his fiance' to the square in a nearby town on Sunday and I took lots of pictures of the dogwoods and redbuds.

About camping...My dad loved to fish, so we did it alot when I was a kid. Went from tent to RV through my growing up years! Now I would just rather rent a cabin. Not because of bugs and such, I don't mind them most of the time, I just like the "facilities" better. I have peed behind enough trees in my life! LOL! My in-laws have a very nice RV, but I have only "camped" in it once when we had a pretty big storm and the most of the city had lost their electricity. We went over to my in-laws so that we could watch TV and have air-conditioning since it worked of the generator and has Direct TV. Luckily we only lost power for a day, so we were back home quick! It was July...Remember that storm Janie and Sharon???

SharonA
03-29-2007, 10:32 AM
T83...A day!!!!!!!!!!!!! We were without for 9 days in total. First round was 6 days. Then MLGW powered us up. Then a transformer exploded and we were without for another 3 days. It was miserable. Oh BTW...What made matters worse is that Hurricane :elvis: (that's what this storm was named by the news media here) came through the morning of my B-day. No cake for Sharon. :shake:

Tracey...Tie a string around one of your fingers so you will remember to bring the camera tomorrow. Oh, wait...Then you will have to tie another string around another finger to remember why the other finger has a string on it. :lmao:

Camping...I grew up camping (tent camping). My whole family would go up into the high mountains of the Sierra Nevadas in California every summer for 2 weeks at a time. We would have to hike down a mountain side to a fresh mountain stream to get our water and to bathe. Nothing like bathing in a snow melt stream. Brrrrrrrr But once you turn blue, it really isn't bad. :biglaugh: The hike down wasn't bad, but then you had to hike back up with full water bags.

Claredale
03-29-2007, 10:49 AM
Tracey...I hope you remember your camera. Just put it in your car as soon as you get home.

Yes Sharon, we just had 1 day, but there was alot of my hubby's family that were like you, so we had a few guests. I had a cat and dog at the time, so some of family didn't want to since they weren't fond of animals and I wasn't going to make them stay outside!

I am sorry that it happened on your birthday, but now I know when your b-day is! I slept right through the storm. When I looked outside, my front tree was broken in half. Luckily it fell into the street and not my house.

I am looking forward to see alot of spring photos!

Me too :( Starting to get spring time here finally! Going tomorrow to pick up our boat to get it dewinterized!!!! Can't wait to get back on the water again. Won't be the same as the ocean though. Might be kinda weird to slip back into the muddy lake water after seeing how clear the ocean was. At least this way though I can't see the fish that I'm swimming with! LOL

Claredale
03-29-2007, 11:55 AM
I am ready to open up my pool, but there certainly won't be any cameras around that area!

Meme...if you don't see them, they aren't there!

leelee88
03-29-2007, 11:55 AM
Thats true!...
We just bought a new battery for the jet ski..I think we are going to buy my moms so we can have 2 of them.. Much funner that way....:smile tee

meme
03-29-2007, 12:01 PM
I love jet skiing! We still haven't bought another one so we can have a pair. Too many other toys to buy-lol! I just want to leave and go to my camper and sit around by the fire and cook marshmallows. It's gloomy and rainy here now and its starting to get to me! :cussing:
Tracy, have you ever had one of the fishes brush against you-believe me, they're there! :lmao: Freaked me out really bad the first few times, nothing worse than a fish mistaking your toes for bait! Won't be any camera's with me at the lake either. Way to much incriminating evidence!:lmao:

Claredale
03-29-2007, 12:06 PM
Again Meme...They aren't there. I barely get in there to pee! My family teases me so much since one time I was about to ski and a fish (or worse) touched me. They couldn't get the boat to me fast enough. Now when I do get in that water, they all say that I am warming up the lake! Greers Ferry in Arkansas used to be pretty clear, but due to lack of rain in the last several years, it's getting ugh!

Rosalie
03-29-2007, 05:25 PM
Ronda, that is a fantastic shot.
Now for the fish in the lake ....Hahaha I'd rather have them brush past me that a great white! The thought of those big buggers keeps me out of the ocean... well deep water anyway.

Andrea, those photographs are gorgeous! I always love shots that dissappear off the edge of the print. Its like you get really personal with the subject. There is an intensity to the picture. Who are the beautiful people in the shots?
Tell us about the one with the baby and the blue bunnyrug. Have you photoshopped it? And again the running shot of the little fella is very captivating.

andrea1
03-29-2007, 06:56 PM
Thanks for the response!
The woman with the child is my cousin and her son while we were on a train (me in the car in front). The boy had never been happier, so it was really easy to get good shots of him.
The little boy with the blue towel (yes, a towel :)) is my little stepbrother, Ben. We had given him a bath and when we took him out, he was shivering, so I held him wrapped in his towel, but he fell asleep, so my stepmom and I carefully put a diaper on him and laid him down to nap. It was such a sweet image, I had to snap it-- and yes, it is photoshopped (really poorly, I might add, but it was the only copy of the image I had saved).
The sunglass picture is me with the same boy from the blue towel picture and the two below it are of his twin brother, Evan (yes, they look nothing alike).

Rosalie--you haven't shown us anything recently..what gives? :hmm:

Sharon--looking forward to the recent pics of your weekend cabin getaway. :)

Andrea, more gorgeous photos. Your step brother and sister are very photogenic.
LeeLee, I am so jealous after seeing that pic of the Grand Cayman Islands..perfect subject for photographs.
And Shazza! Hahaha I always pictured you as your avatar...hahahaha. where's your hat? It is SO nice to see you. I love the shots of that cabin.... I want to come and visit. I do have a question though, in the last picture what the large white and grey(looks electrical) thing on the bathroom bench? Guess I'm just a sticky beak...but if I'm coming over to stay at that cabin then I'd like to know if there is anything strange going on Hahahaa:lmao:
Diana, I think that little squirrel has a dangerous look on his face. Were you giving him a hard time?
And just so you know what I've been up to lately, this picture will give you some idea...yep more partying and cake decorating... This is my niece Peta at her 40th birthday party last night. She asked me to make her a croquembouche. Ir took me all saturday to make and decorate it........grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I had cream and chocolate all over the bloody place Hahahahaah first AND last croquembouche.

Love camping! Started at girl scout camping about 55 years ago, done lots of tent camping, but now have a small "A liner" trailer. Has lots of windows even on the A frame shape roof. That means I see the stars at night. I don't travel so much now with it but do park it in the woods behind my house, and walk out there with my two little dogs, most summer and fall nights, enjoying the owls and wildlife calls. Also, just recently got a digital camera and as soon as I know how to post a photo, I will. suebee

Hi everyone. Sorry I haven't been too active on the photo board for a little while. I've been having some back pain and now some foot pain that is making everything a little harder and more uncomfortable than usual. I'm wondering if my cholesterol medicine i started recently could be the culprit. Anyway, that is why I've been a little quiet lately - haven't been taking too many photos because I'm kind of hobbling around. Hopefully, I'll get back to my normal self soon.

I have been enjoying the photos and the posts I've been reading here though!

traceann
04-02-2007, 05:39 AM
Yeah, I am with you Janie is saying I know I haven't been here much - well, I should say as Janie did - quiet, I've tried to keep up and just when I think I have a chance to post, ha, not so...

Andrea, lovely photos, children are so much fun to take pictures of! I once shot 2 rolls on a very good friend's little boy and then handed them all over to them, once developed. It was just so much fun! He was like 2 or 3 at the time I think!

D, I know I know, I have to just grab that dang camera! Something I keep running into, is thinking that I'll just toss it in the truck so I won't forget, but the temps have been fluctuating like crazy lately (55 today, but by Friday 34) I am afraid to leave it in there... Will I ever get myself together? Doubt it. If it ain't happened by 38, don't think it's going to, lol.

Sharon - that shot of you is great!! I loved it!!!! Turned out great too, you must have had a brightly lit area to not have to use the flash! And you like to let us think you don't do much of that stuff, yeah, right...........

Ok leelee, with your shots, you've inspired me to try to remember that I have to start rummaging around and see where I can find my Mexico shots and U.P. pics as well, so pretty!!

Hey suebee2 welcome to the thread! Oh do start posting some pics when you get a chance, we love to see them!

SharonA
04-02-2007, 09:34 AM
:welcome: suebee2...Can't wait to see your pictures. Very glad to have you aboard.

Tracey...Really, really, really...I do not take many pictures. Well, I guess I should say I didn't take many pictures. At least not until these threads got my interest. The picture of me was taken in my sink room of my master bath. It has 4 overhead lights so all the wrinkles show.

Ro...That Croquembouche looks sinful. I don't think I have ever heard of this delight. Is it native to you? Please tell how it is made. It looks like Cream Puffs.

The electrical thingy in the bathroom is a room heater. I guess the owner uses it when she is in the tub relaxing. I usually unplug it and have never used it.

I can't believe I forgot about the hat. Oh well, this way you can see my face.

leelee...There comes an age when tent camping is out of your line of sight. I reached that many years ago. The last time I went tent camping was in the late 1970s with a bunch of friends. The last time I went wilderness camping (in a pickup shell) was in the early 1980s with Hubby. Now I go cabin camping. It is much better. All the comforts of home except TV and Internet. We have to find our own entertainment. *wink* Yes, it is very romantic.

Tracey...MORE snow!!!!!!!!!! Oh No!!!!!!!!!!! We are having a cold down, also. All last week and until today, we have been in the 80's. Now we are going back down to the 50's and 60's during the day and may get down to the 30's at night. I guess it is Old Man Winter's last gasp. At least I hope so. I was loving the 80's.

D...Dogwoods and bunnies. Spring is here. :woohoo: I love the different sock pic. Typical male...could care less, right?

leelee--do you have a Photobucket account? If not, most here would recommend that site to host your pictures as its very user friendly and provides easy linking.
If you do have a Photobucket account--log onto your account. check the box directly underneath the picture you want to share..scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on "generate HTML and IMG code"..this will take you to another page where you can choose the "IMG clickable thumbnails for message boards"--copy that code; come back here to the photo thread and paste that code in your message. :)

Tracey--good grief, more snow! its been in the upper 70's/low 80's around here the past few days. its supposed to drop into the upper 50's for the next 3-4 days then back up into the 70's. I cant imagine still having to look at snow in April...brrrrrrrrr!...

Sharon--spring is a lovely time of year..:)...We also have a bird thats in the process of building her nest in my son's bedroom window--I suspect I'll have bird eggs to keep watch on soon.:)..Its been a zoo in our backyard as of late, with bunnies, squirrels, snakes, foxes, and the occassional stray dog and cat..:puppy: :cat: :lmao:
And you got it right, my son couldnt have cared less today about his mismatched socks..:lmao:

Rosalie--did you save all of us here a cream puff or two? :hmm:
Looks like you did a wonderful job!.:woohoo:

Hope everyone's doing well!

Stacey great to meet you and thankyou for sharing all your gorgeous photographs. My daughter Hilary has just started at a Photographic Imaging College here in Melbourne and has her heart set on a career in photography. She will be very keen to check out your pics as well.
Janie, glad tosee you back. Ihope you are feeling better.
Sharon, I just love the pic of you in the hat. That is the way I always think of you. And you are right about the cream puffs in the Croquembouche! They are filled with a continental custard cream, drizzled with chocolate and piled around a central conical form. I believe the dessert originated in france where the word means 'crack in the mouth"...they are often coated in toffee. ....much to difficult for me to have a go at!
Well today Hilary and I had a wonderful time doing a fair amount of 'retail therapy' in the city (Melbourne) and I even remebered to take some pics.
First shot is the Melbourne skyline as we approached over the Westgate bridge. Grey skys and rain clouds have been a rarety here with the 7 year drought. It was wonderful to see rain later in the day.

Hi there Robin. That pic of the mountains is very interesting. If you join up with a site like Photobucket ( you can have a free account) you will be able to upload and post larger photos or even the clickable thumbnails so that we can all get a much closer look at your handiwork. Please don't be put off at doing that as it is quite easy once you get going. We can all get you any help you might need. Hahaha... I had the help of the wonderful Diana...believe me, if I can post stuff here anyone can:lmao:

Tracey...Like Ro said, cool pictures. I saw on the weather that you will be having lake wrap around snow over the next few days. Sorry...The weather dudes around here are saying we have a slight (very slight) chance of a few (very few) snow flakes (just flakes) tonight or tomorrow night.

Ro...In the first picture, the one of the skyline of Melbourne, there is a building close to the center of the pic on the left had side with what looks like two TV or Radio Antennas. The reason I pick that building out is that in Nashville (our State Capital) there is a building that looks very much like that one... Antennas and all.

Robin...Great pic of the mountains. I am originally from California and I miss the mountains.

suebee...Hubby and I spent 3 months in Minneapolis and I miss having Walleye every Friday night for Dinner. It is such a delicious fish.

Ro and Sharon LOL, and it's "cool" 22 degrees here today as well! YIKES! Not sure how long we are in this snap, but I hope it's not too long, gets me depressed all over again, lol. Yay! I finally had something to post! I just wish it was a cheerier photo!:cussing:

Robin - once you have your acct as you do, from the album page, check the box just under the photo you want to generate the code for. Then, scroll all the way to the bottom of that page and you will see a button labled "Generate HTML and IMG codes" - click on it. It will take you to the page with all the codes for that particular photo, scroll til you see "clickable thumbnails, recommended for message boards" and copy the code in there. Then when you are typing your post, paste it in! With this method, you don't have to click the button with the mountain on it, lol. Hope this helps!!!

SueBee, if you can get onto 'photobucket' and check out Tracey's instructions to Robin, you will be able to post your pictures as 'clickable' thumbnails'.These are then copied and posted directly into your ICN reply. We can then make them bigger to see work work more closely.
Shaz, I had to go back to my Melbourne pic to see which building you meant. David and have been trying to work out whos building it is since then. Hahaha It is driving him nuts! and has had his architechure books out trying to find it.....:lmao: I wouldn't be surprise if we go for a little drive into the city today to check it out!

Wow Love that photo of you Rosalie!! You look very "Mod"

As for my eye color - I was having some fun with photoshop and did some retouching of my photo - my eye color is blue but I upped the saturation of the blue and that is the color it came out. Also, added kind of a soft glow effect to the photo. Hey, at my age you need all the retouching help you can get!:biglaugh: I turn 50 this month!

Indeed I am a victim/survivor/product of the 70's. Hahahaha that crazy, wacky, liberating decade! I remember it as one of the best times of my life. Hahahaa, but then again so would anyone feel about their teens and early 20's.'Mods' and 'sharpies' came a little earlier in the 60's but yes indeed, I was a 'mod'. Had the clothes, the hair and the attitude!
I am very gratified to see a few more of my era joining in here. Hahahaha, I don't feel too much like the 'grand dame' anymore.
Tracey, now let me tell you just what I do when it snows outside....:loco: oh yeah! it doesn't Hahahahahaha:lmao: I guess I may be the only one here that thinks that is funny:rolleyes: . Seriously for me, it would be a wonderland to wake up to such a beautiful sight! yeah yeah yeah, I know I don't have to live with it.

I graduated HS in 1975 so I know what you are talking about in the 70s - it was a fun time. Well, let's see - yes, still winter here! ARGH! I could just scream! (I think I actually might have too, grrr) I look out my front doors and it's all white again. I just can't believe this! My poor poor plants, I am really fearing for their lives, this can't be good. And it's not like there's enough of the snow to be a good blanket for them - it's enough to look awful, but not actually do some good....

Oh gosh, love the photos girls!!!! An Ro - actually your do pretty much fits right in to today's styles, ;) Yes, please be brave and post a recent one! FUN stuff!!!!

Janie - don't you just love the effects one can achieve with the Photoshop? I get rid of my tiny lines, pores I hate, scars etc. And the glow - well, shoot you can't beat it for looking fabulous! And hey, it's no more than they do to the models on magazine covers!!! :)

Diana - GREAT shots, I am so envious of great things to take pictures of, *sigh*. There are so many interesting buildings and stuff to snap away at!!!

Huh, and Sharon's off playing in the woods again, huh???? Lucky duck!

Rosalie--looks like a beautiful day to be out and about.

Sharon--there is quite a bit of interestingness around this area..haha..alot of history. This year is the 400th anniversary of VA; theres going to be festivities and such in Jamestown next month, one of which will be a visit from the Queen of England. Kevin and I have plans to stake out the area and play papparazzi for a couple of days! :lmao:
One of my penguin pictures made the local news--yeah, i'm a bit proud!..:woohoo:

Tracey--what time should we all plan on arriving at the cabin? Unlike Rosalie and her old bones, I'll sleep anywhere, floor included!

Hey Sleepyangel, they are great photos, keep them coming, afterall this is what this thread is about.
Suebee, that is one cute little fella there. We don't have squirrels here in Oz ( for that matter,we don't too much snow either Hahahaha..some, but not in my backyard hahhahaha). Although As I have guessed from pictures and comments from Diana, those squirrells aren't always so cute!
And you are very welcome to come down here any time you like. Unfortunately, I don't have a cabin to offer but there is plenty of room in my backyard for a tent or two. And, that background material in the butterfly blocks looks just like that which I used in my butterfly blocks. See! great minds DO think alike.
Now Diana, my "old bones" can still do a few tricks or two....:lmao: :lmao:

Angela---great pics. I especially like the one of the tulips-very springlike! :)

Sue--i admire anyone who can quilt, as I cant so much as sew a button. Cute squirrel too! I recently had an altercation with one in my backyard. Our yard is full of them, however they dont like to be photographed it seems. :lmao:

Rosalie--is there room enough in your backyard for everyone? And do you have repellant to keep away all the 'roo's, koalas, spiders and all other vermin?

Here are a few pictures I took this morning while attempting to pass time....

Sue, we recently went to a caravan and camping show and I saw a van just like yours. It looks so cute! How many does it sleep? But the pne I loved was an off-road trailor that opened up on about two minutes, hard floor and all. There was only one problem with it........$24,000.00 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Robin, they are gorgeous grandchildren you have there. Is that your hubby in the background?
Janie, I hope you are up and running again soon.
Shazza, seeing as how you asked so nicely, I will see if I can scrounge up a camp mattress from somewhere.
Diana, Im not telling you anything about me old bomes and what they can or can't get up to...I don't want you starting a scandal on the ICN :lmao: And there is room for everyone! We'll squeeze you all in somehow or another.

I put this photo on our yahoo group cause for security reasons I'm a little hesitant to show photos of my daughter in a public forum. If anyone wants to see the photo you can subscribe to our Yahoo group. It's been very quiet but it is a good place to put photos.

Holy cow am I behind!!!!

So many new photos etc, and I took some of my kitty the other night I have to get downloaded into the puter yet! :)

Why yes, Sharon, that is the very same cabin!!

And of course there's room girls!! There's two bedrooms, one queen, and the other has 2 full size, the couch is a futon, the back room is huge and can be all set up for whatever! Now, the bathroom is tiny and there's just the one, but heck, there's lots of woods around us, lmao!!! Guess I better get on the horn to mom and dad-in-law and say I am booking it, lmao!!!! Funny, everyone else now a days gets to use it but Hubby and I! Granted, it's 15 minutes from home, but feels much much further, we are thinking on using it for a couple weeks this summer, well, that's the last I heard anyway, lmao!!!

Ok, back to work for me, just home on lunch...been slaving away there lately, and I have just about had my fill!!!! ARGH!!!!!

Jane--hope youre starting to feel better! :)
And, I havent seen a daddy bird around anywhere, though that doesnt mean there isnt one. I think that robins do the work on their own; she leaves the nest in the morning around 6:30/7am and gathers up food, then doesnt move much after that. Should anyone get too close she'll fly out of the nest and go sit on the fence nearby, all the while squawking and flicking her tail up and down to show you who's boss-a very protective momma..:) I'm really surprised she let me get close enough to take that last picture I posted--I was within 5 feet of her. The pictures not very clear as I was a bit nervous thinking at any minute she was going to fly out and attack me.

Tracey--its about time you decided to join us again! You hiatus' must cease! :lmao: .....So, you booked that cabin for all of us yet? :hmm:

Thank you girls, she's a tough one to get shots of, seems the only time she sits still is when she's sleeping.... ;) And nope, didn't wake her up at all! She only woke up when hubby's leg started to fall asleep (since I wouldn't let him move so I could get my pictures), and he had to move his knee, lol.

I agree, that situation is sooooo sad, it's bothered me ever since it happened, who was he to decide to take someone else's life because he was a malcontent? It just sickens me to no end that stuff like that can happen, those people did NOT deserve to die because he was "unhappy"! Ok, I'd better quit now or I will go on and on!!!!

Rosalie, My camper cost about $8000. new, weights less than 1000 lbs. I bought mine used, but just like new for $4000, about 5 years ago. Very easy to pull behind my little Subaru presa outback. And that photo is where I enjoy it most, about a 10 minute walk from my house in the evening. Walked out there this morning to check out the snow. Still some, but receding, perhaps by May can take the camper back out. Absolutely love the robin photo from dg2901. I love nature. This morning in the corn field next to the house I watched the wild male turkeys displaying to attract the females. What a Beautiful sight, very impressive. suebee

Oh, Hubby and I have an Alladin lamp that was one of the grandparents, we just need a new shade for it. It's a white one, and haven't found a shade yet that we both can agree on, lol. I am slowly building my antique collection thanks to my mom-in-law, we've gotten a few pieces from them, a buffet, a sideboard table/cabinet thing and my absolute fave, the pie safe... I now have my eye on hubby's antique bureau/chest of drawers and dressing table/dresser thing, omg, they are unbelievable...they are still in his old room at my inlaws and we are just waiting for a bit of space for somewhere to put them! Oh Kara, I know that scene well, that was our weather a week ago today I think? It was awful, but the temps warmed up and it went away, thank goodness! My flowers didn't know what to do! :)

Check this out. It is a new feature from Photobucket and you can compile your own photos (even add video if you want) put some funny effects and add music.
MuShu is the star of this one!

Janie, I am sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Its great seeing all photos of antiques. I love poking around in secondhand dealers and op shops. The op shops are best because you can often find something special, before the dealers have seen it.
Diana, that toilet seat reminds me of an old country song here. "Redback on the toilet seat"...redback, being a poisonous spider here.:lmao: Actually, you can buy those seats with that spider imbedded in them. Personally, I don't fancy it.
On Wednesday, hubby and I are off for a few days holiday, to the coast of South Australia. We will base ourselves in Beachport from where we will do some day trips to Robe and the Coorong. A short distace away are some wonderful wineries. Hahahaha, we are expecting to come home with more in the boot than what we left with! Hopefully, I will have some photos to post when we get back.

Thank you everyone for your sentiments about my Father-In-Laws passing. I appreciate it very much.

Enjoyed everyone's recent photos. Hope to be posting more soon.

My sister called me earlier and for my big 50 birthday she is giving me something extra special - a home studio so I can take "pro-like" portraits at home - this kit has lighting and backdrops. I'm so excited about it. Can't wait to share some photos but it probably won't be here for a week or so and then it will take me a bit of time to get used to it.

Great new photos gang!!!

Janie I am so sorry I am late in expressing my condolences to you and your hubby, that's just such sad news.... And then on the lighter side, what a great birthday gift!! WOW! You will have so much fun, lol, as if your little girl isn't snapped enough, now she's really going to be put to work modeling!! ;)

Hey Ro! Have a great holiday!!! Yay, how fun getting to escape for a little while, *sigh*. You make sure you have fun for me too and have some good wine for me as well! I would like to be a bit tipsy, so I trust you to use your judgement, lol!!! ;)

Hey D, things are started to hopefully take a turn for the better - today is a little bit better than yesterday, my cheek under my right eye not so sore as yesterday. Still a bit touchy - but seems to be a smidge better. I don't do colds well, I hate being sick!! ARGH!!!!! And young lady, great flower shots, I am jealous, lol. Kara...Those pictures were taken in your yard!!!! WOW!!! The waterfall is fantastic.

I love all the flower pictures, everyone. Except for the allergic attacks, I wish Spring would hang around for a few weeks more. It's great that we are from different areas. That way, Spring springs at different times and it lasts longer for all of us.

Janie...This might be belated, but :birthday: Hubby has a photo studio in our upstairs bonus room...Lights, cameras, backdrops...the works. Many years ago (and I do mean many) we bought a large Wiley Coyote. He uses it to focus his cameras on and to learn how to do different things. He says Wiley is the perfect subject. Never moves, blinks or complains that he is taking too long or that the lights are bright and hot. A couple of weeks ago, he did a shoot for the grandson of friends of ours. That was fun. :)

Sharon,

Yes that is where I live.

We have a brook that runs through our backyard which is where the waterfall comes from. The pond is a runoff pond from that brook. During the summer our neighbors plant some beautiful flowers around that pond.

Here is a little "Thank You" for everyone's kind thoughts for my father in law. I just took this photo a few minutes ago and edited it in Photoshop to make a "thank you" card. My sister sent the flowers. She told them to send a nice neutral color of silk flowers, anything but blue or pink and apparently all they heard was "blue" <smile>

Sharon, I bet your husband has really enjoyed his home studio. I'm looking forward to setting mine up and playing with it. You must have some lovely portraits of yourself that he has taken! Unfortunately, we don't have an extra room to keep a studio set up all the time. My mom comes for extended periods and stays in our extra bedroom and Maggie has taken over two other rooms with her toys.

Diana,
I've had roses blooming for a good month now. We have had some nice warm weather, then we had a bit of a cold snap that slowed down the blooms. Now my Rose bush looks gorgeous. In a month or so it will look terrible though. It gets miserably hot down here and my poor rose bush is in a place where it gets too much sun and I have to confess I'm not as good about watering it as I should be.

I'll keep you posted on the cardinals. Hope I didn't scare mama bird off permanently by getting so close to take the photo.

Kara, I meant to tell you that the photo of the goose you took was gorgeous. What beautiful lighting and detail!

dg2901

Janie--I doubt you scared momma bird away. Generally it would take a human actually touching the nest/eggs to scare the momma away. I'm looking forward to seeing the babies. :)
My robin eggs and momma bird mysteriously vanished from the nest a few days ago--this has me quite bummed. I can only assume that some sort of predator got ahold of her eggs. :(
My rose bushes get sunlight from afternoon til sundown and do fine w/o any intervention on my part. Although last year I think some sort of insect or whatnot invaded the plant as they didnt seem to be as vibrant as years past. This year I'm going to pay closer attention to them in hopes of having healthier blooms.

Kitty seems to have found a new spot to park his bum-on my desk right next to my mouse and arm space--so I figured I'd annoy him with the camera in hopes of reclaiming my space....

And the Thank You card turned out lovely, ;) You're right, they must have heard "silk flowers....blue" and that's it, but it's still a lovely arrangement!! Hmm, your house sounds like mine - I can't have anything set up permanently, hubby and I will be sharing the spare room for my crafting and his flies he makes for trolling and fishing and my mom lives with us, so that takes out the other room...*sigh* I am still waiting for a killer sale on some sheets so I can make a make-shift backdrop etc, I want a black one and a white one... ;)

So Diana, kitty thinks he wants blueberries huh? LOL One of my girls, now passed, used to come flying into the kitchen when I was cutting onions, lol. She would practically climb up the counter to get to them, but if I offered her some, she sniffed and walked away. They must smell better than they taste! LMAO!!!!!

Lately, Missy trick is to hog my mom's heated lap throw, it's hilarious. As soon as she sees "her" blankie out she's up on the couch with mom and slowly takes most of it over, leaving mom a smidge of a corner. So, the other day I tried to get a photo of it, cause it's just so darn funny, and by the time I got the camera (which was right at the desk where I was) and opened and on, she moved. ARGHHH!! She'd been laying there forever and NOW she moves?? Shessh!!!!

Andrea---I too like roses when they're at the opening stage. It seems that once they open they dont stay around long enough to enjoy.

:) Andrea, Beautiful family photos! I am still waiting for the tulips to bloom, daffodiles are out and very yellow. It was 40 degrees this morning, that slows things down. sue

Diana, - oooooh yellow roses . . . my favorite! You got a couple of beautiful shots!

Andrea I would have to say, bar none, my favorite is the pic with the cotton candy!! But they are all fabulous- I need to get me some kids so I can have my own little models!!! hee hee hee ;)

D Well, I have now passed the fun on to hubby, lol. But it's weird, the nose has finally given me a break, but now I have this weird cough thing going on, it's like it (bleck) drains into my throat and feels like it's right in my throat at the windpipe area, weird. So, now I have this annoying cough thing going on along with the feeling of having a turtleneck on that too tight in the neck, plus today, I feel all funky in the head (No comments please), I think it's all stuffed up again and messing with the balance thing, it's weird. I think I am just weird. lol

Well, I am jealous of all you guys! My roses don't even have leaves yet, lmao!!!! GRRRRRRR!!!!

Diana - how beautiful!! That is a gorgeous photo!!

Tracey, sure hope you get better soon. I had a cold (or something) that lasted three months but finally am all better now. I certainly sympathize with you!
I hope you get well soon!

Tracey--you need to get to feeling better--this cold/allergy thing has been going on far too long as I'm sure you'll agree. Now, regarding your comment about feeling "funky in the head"--:loco: :loco: <--dats all I gots to say 'bout dat! :D

Sue---have you figured out Photobucket yet?

These pictures are of part of the inside of my house. I took them last fall. I thought you might be interested in a tour of where I live.

Sharon,
LOVED the tour! I finally got to see your Cambria! It really looks great! Your whole house is decorated so beautifully.
I've been meaning to talk to you about the get together at my house. I still want to have you and T83 over but I think she is in the process of planning a wedding and I haven't heard much from her lately. Have you heard from Tracey?

Diana,
I was just setting up my studio. All of the stuff arrived in different boxes on different days. I still havent gotten all of my muslin backdrops but I did get my black and white. I'm going to coax Maggie into some of her dance attire or something pretty and try to take her portrait in a little bit if I can get the lights put together right.

No Janie...I have not heard from T83. She hasn't posted much over the last few weeks. Thank you for the compliments about my home.

D...Thank you, also.

Tracey...Hope you are feeling better.
