Hi friends:

I'm hoping somebody can give me some natural remedies to use to control this bad flare.

My husband and I had sex for the first time in 4 months with a condom (first time with condom) I stopped the pill 4 months ago.

Well we used a well lubricated condom....no spermicide and it was feeling ok, but he couldn't feel anything...so I got on top....and that made it go deeper, plus we went a lot longer b/c he could barely feel anything....

My question is I was feeling pretty much in remission for almost a year and now I'm back on square one again....flared up like I used to be...

I have major pressure and frequency.....

What could have caused this after sex?

The position, the condom, how long it lasted etc???

What causes the bladder to flare up after sex?

Any natural remedies to help this calm down?

I just can't believe I was feeling normal for about a year....and now this...........

I'm feeling so sad...

any help would be appreciated...
thanks bunni

It could have been all those things. This is one of the areas that a lot of experimentation to see what you can tolerate and a lot of good communtication.

One thing I think I have seen on here is to make sure to empty your bladder right after sex, and to make sure to use plenty of lubrication.

Using heat, ice and all the other flare helps are what I use when I have one from this.

I am sorry I can't offer more.

So sorry. One thing that many people don't mention is to rest those musscles after....AFTER YOU PEE LAY DOWN AND DO NOT MOVE AT ALL FOR ATLEAST 15 MINUTES. You may be very surprized at what a difference that can make. It can be good to spend that time with heat (even if you aren't hurting yet) because mostly the after sex pain can be calmed down if you work at it right away!!!!!

Good luck.

I know sex can cause flare ups but you may also have an infection. You should get tested just to be sure if the symptoms get worse or don't improve. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

It's possible you could be allergic to latex condoms. I read somewhere that those can cause IC flares. So it's possible that it may not be sex itself that is the problem but rather the condom. You could try having sex without the condom.

Either way I would get tested for allergies.
