Can Elavil and Celexa be taken together?? My Dr. just prescribed 25 mg of Elavil at night but I don't know if he remembered that I take Celexa also. Also can you have a drink while taking Elavil??????

I'm pretty sure that they can. (I've taken them both together in the past). You really should ask your doctor, I'm not sure what condition your health is in other than the IC. I didn't realize until last month, that those with high blood pressure and certain individuals have problems with Elavil(Amytriptyline).
Can you drink with it...well again, overall what's your health like? Ask your doctor. When I asked mine, I was reminded that 1 beer is almost like have 6 beers b/c of the elavil...I drink wine, and so yeah I'm feeling pretty warm and fuzzy after 1 or 2 :D And certainly don't be the one driving home after...good grief, that's no good. :tsk:
I would suggest taking them at nite as both make many people sleeeeepy. And you may have weird or vivid dreams.
Good Luck :hi:

Thanks Yvette,
I have an appointment with him on Monday so I don't think I will start until after I talk with him regarding the Celexa. I was afraid if I had a drink it would put me in a coma :woohoo:
Sounds like it has a lot of undesirable side effects. I'm not sure about taking it.

Yes it's an anti-depressant. At smaller doses it can be used for pain management (I use it for my gut pain associated with IBS). Other antipressants used sometimes are Lexapro, and Celexa. I know there are others, but my brain can't seem to recall any more.
For IC it can help calm down nerves that are already feeling frayed from the contant chronic pain that IC brings on.
At larger doses, antideprssants are used for mental health issues (I hope that's correct way to phrase that  )
