Training your Nerves?

When I was talking to my doctor, he said something that I have never heard before and I was curious if anyone else had been told this or heard this. He said nerves can be "trained" and after a while (I assume he probably meant years)the Interstim can train the nerves and you may possibly not even need to use the unit anymore.

Anyone hear of this?

This is interesting, I never heard of this before..
I will have to ask my doctor the next time I see him about this..

I've never heard of it either but when I had my hydro done on Dec 1st my uro told me to start turning my unit off at least once a week for a day. My urgency does NOT increase on that day.....food for thought??????????? http://www.ferencz.net/smile/hearts.gif teri

Hi, My doctor also said that the interstim retrains the nerves,I'm sure it takes time.
I turn my unit off for an hour every day and most of the time I don't see a difference.
