:lmao: After 3 weeks of torture I am finally feeling better!! I will never take the feeling of not having to go to the bathroom for granted!! Elavil is what i think took away the urgency. I dont want to jinx it but i hope i finally found the right combo of meds!

did it take a while for the Elavil to "kick in"? Did you feel drowsy, then it got better? I'm still trying to adjust, and curious!

I took me 2-3 weeks for the Elavil to kick in. After that I didn't notice the drowsyness either. Just went up to 50mgs and thought I'd be sleepy, but haven't noticed it yet. I definetly think that it was the Elavil ( and strictly watching the IC diet) that put me into ALMOST remission! Good Luck!

Do you think Elavil helps "heal" the bladder, or does it just cover up the symptoms?

i think it was the elavil. I only take it before bed so if it makes me drowsy I don't know. Last night I had trouble getting to sleep because it felt like I had to go again but not the extreme that it was. I think too that im so afraid of it coming back that i concentrate on it to much and make myself feel the urgency. I dont know. But I definently think the elavil has helped.

I don't know that it heals the bladder, but I know that Elavil will cover pain. A lot of my problem is getting myself worked up and then I have the extreme urgency. The elavil has helped a lot with that. I don't worry about it nearly as much b/c I don't have the symptoms as often. I was able a couple weeks ago to go out to dinner and stuff myself plus drink 3 glasses of tea and make the 1 1/2 hr car ride home w/out peeing!!!! Can't do it all the time, but once was REALLY nice!
