Does anyone know what cause the burning feeling with urination when there is not infection present? Lately, everytime I pee it burns around my vagina. Used to be it would come and go but now it burns all the time. Washing with cold water and cold water douhes help but it comes back in a small amount of time. If I can't get the burning to stop it escalates until I feel like I am having the worse peirod ever and I had a total hysterectomy 20 years ago.

I appreciate any answer. I do not post often but I read all the post and have learned a lot. I am so sorry all of you have IC but tahnk you soooooooooooo much for sharing. I don;t feel so alone and hopeless since I found this site. Also, it helps to know I am not crazy. Others have the same symptoms as me.

Thanks and i hope you are having a good day.

It could be a few things that make you burn if you have ruled out a UTI,
Pfd could play a part in it, also what you eat or drink can make you burn, bathing with perfume soaps, and even your laundry soap.
And sex can also cause a lot of burning, with time you will be able to figure out what is causing it..

It could also be that you aren't drinking enough water so your urine is concentrated. There are a few things you could try: Wear only plain cotton underpants and rinse them twice when you wash them; use only plain white unscented toilet tissue and blot (don't wipe); use a gentle soap, such as Cetophil or Neutrogena, for bathing; stay out of the bath tub and take showers only for a while to see if that helps. It's can also help to follow the IC diet (it's in the Patient Handbook).

 i wonder what causes pain in the clitoris . . . for NO REASON.

no sex, no tight clothes, no bath bubbles, etc. Just sudden pain like a sharp needle stuck in it and hurts to any touch. Off an on pain.

thanks!
