Has anyone else experienced terrible vaginal burning? I went to the gyn doctor, but she said I looked OK. I can't stand the pain. I can't sleep, the pain is so intense.

Hello! Yes, many of us experiance the burning and vagianal pain too. There are fortuantely many things you can try that might help. First, you can try the Low Oxalte Diet. There is a Link for it at the top in the Patient handbook. http//www.ic-network/handbook/ Also, keep a spray bottle filled with plain water by the toilet. Spray the are after urination, since it is usually made worse when urine makes contact with the area. Also, there are topical things that could help, like Lidocaine, a topical numbing gel or even a topical hormone cream applied to the area. The hormone creams are thought to thicken the area and kind of toughen it up.

The best thing you can do for yourself is get to a good GYN. There IS help out there. But, if a Dr. wont believe you or take your problem seriously, then it is time to move on to the next. Or, if they see nothing wrong, and have no plans for future investigations, and give you no d/x, it is time to move on.

I hope you find a good Gyn to help you soon. Meanwhile, there are lots of posts on this topic with some great suggestions, so read all you can!

I hope this helps!

Hugs,
Amy

The type of pain you are talking about has nothing to do with how your vagina looks to the doctor. It sounds to me like you need a referral to someone who treats pelvic floor disorders. Burning, stinging, shooting types of pain are from nerves that are in some way irritated either by impingement, trauma, irritation or some other reason a PFD specialist can diagnose.
