View Full Version : lexapro
Has anyone tried lexapro? It seems to have increased my bladder and urethral pain dramatically! Will this reverse? Is that what's suppose to happen?
Thanks for any thoughts. And, it seems to make me more depressed than I was. True for anyone else? Or am I just tired?
I have been on it for about 3 years and it has helped my IC. But, we're all different in how meds affect us.

please talk with your doctor, Kim is right we all react different with antidepressants.. I myself take welbutrin xl.
Thanks for the info. It seems to be settling down and actually seems to be helping. That would make quite a difference in my life!

I've tried a bunch of different antidepressants, and the only one that did not greatly increase my bladder pain was Wellbutrin XL. Every other one (including Lexapro) made my bladder symptoms a hundred times worse. Again, we are all individual in how meds affect us. I just wanted to let you know, though, that it's not unheard of to have an adverse reaction to an antidepressant.
Blessings,
Lori
Thanks for the info. It's weird but it seems to have increased my bladder capacity, but also greatly increased the pain. I get up now (again) several times a night despite taking sleeping pills.
anyone know how long before things "settle down" and I can tell if the pain increase brought on by the lexapro will stay or not?
Thanks!

It helped my IC & made me extremely tired, I wasn't on it for very long though maybe 2 months I think??? :cat:
A great website for looking up medications is www.rxlist.com The website lists indications, possible dosages and side effects. The topics include things like how long it takes for the medication to work and side effects trial participants experienced. One cold also go directly to the medications own website and go to Physician’s Info for prescribing details. Just because people in the trial had side effects, yours could symptoms could be coming from a source other than the medication, so as mentioned in previous posts calling one’s doc is a good idea.
Best wishes,
