Ok, I'll start, lol. During all the stuff that's going on around me right now, this was the one bit of excitement I have had - a brand new refrigerator! No one else's food has been in it! YAY! I have NEVER had a new one, ever. I was all teary eyed when we got it - hubby thought that was hilarious, lol. ;) And it's the Jenn-Air I have been wanting and wanting and wanting...

Tracey...I am so happy for you. :woohoo: Don't you just love the tri-door style. When we revamped my kitchen, I got one in black from GE Profile. I LOVE IT!!!!!!
It is a bit sad though that a new fridge makes us sooooo happy. :hmm: Just think what a new luxury car would do for us. :lmao:

I always tell my husband I am a cheap date because it doesn't take much to make me happy :)
I was so happy to get my new washing machine so I know how happy you are about the fridge.

Beautiful Tracey! When I had to get a new one a couple years ago I made the mistake of getting a white one. I love that stainless steel look so much better and it is so popular now!
Congrats on the new fridge!

Tracey, so glad you've gotten something that makes you ecstatic..:woohoo: .
I like the tri-door refrigerators; and while stainless is nice looking, glad its you that has to clean it and not me..:D...kidding of course! Having said that, your new toy would go nicely with my prep table!
So have you made anything to go in the fridge yet? And I have to ask, was the pic taken with your other new toy? Dang, I think you need to invite us all over to your house so we can play with your things!!!!

LOL, thanks girls - whoever thought that when we were kids or teenagers even that new appliances would delight us so!! Next is a new stove...not til next fall or winter as we both want either a Jenn-Air, Capital, DCS, AGA etc...LOL Need to be savin' lots o' pennies!!! :)
And yup D was taken with the other new toy, lol. Thing is now I can't tolerate an unorganized fridge...lmao!!!! So, what I have made has to be arranged juuuuuuuuuuuuuust right...LOL!!
Oh yeah D, already trying to find the stainless steel cleaner that the manufacturer recommends, will have to hoof it to Kmart and see what they got, but now my MIL uses Windex on hers, go figure.

Tracey, love the fridge...I had to laugh about this one never having anybody else's food in it. My fridge is only used for the water and the icemaker most of the time. My hubby was tickled when I made a roast on Sunday. LOL. Whenever I mention that I want to go stainless for my appliances, he questions the need for a kitchen at all. I have been known to tell him that I would cook more often if I had an updated kitchen. He teases me all the time because everytime we go out of town, I always buy some cookbook. I also love to watch "Take Home Chef" on TLC, but I don't think that has anything to do with the cooking! LOL! If any of you don't watch it...Curtis is a cutie!!!

02-08-2007, 10:03 AM
Tracey, you can find Stainless Steel Magic at Lowes; however like you're MIL we found that Windex works just as well, if not better--and nevermind its less expensive..:)
Oh, and when you go to purchase that Jenn-Air--buy two, cause I want one as well. Actually, I want a Viking, however since you'll already be shopping and purchasing I'll take what you're gettin'! :D
Tata for now

I am Soooooooooooo jealous of you all with your lovely stainless steel appliances:dizzy: My ancient old kitchen is driving me nuts!
However, I DO have (or will have ) one new thing to add here.
Our poor old SAAB has been towed three times since early Jan and they still haven't found what the real problem is! Soooooooooooo.............
I am picking up a new Subaru Forrester....hopefully today but if not, then by monday or tuesday.
The hubby is having a canniption fit about borrowing that much money... but I reckon he'll get over it :lmao: :lmao:

I must be thick, cuz I still can't figure out how to do a clickable thumbnail from photobucket even with Tracey's help. Oh well, i sized this one down so it is pretty small file so hope it is ok. Tracey, I don't get an option for clickable thumbnail when I click on those places you suggested. Are you using photobucket or another site? Thanks again for your help!
Rosalie

Hey Janie, I can't get the clickable thumbnails either. Even with lots more help from Diana! I appear to be missing that function.
Breaking news... hahahahahaa... I have the cheque in my hot little hand and will be picking up the new car tomorrow! yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!:woohoo:

This shot was taken inside the Gompa at the Buddhist where my sister lives. The prayer and teaching room should be finished very soon. The largest gold statue was brought over from Tibet.
The Dalai Lama will be coming to bless the centre during his visit in June this year. We are all so excited. I will be lurking somewhere in the background but Helen has invited him to her flat for afternoon tea :) ( she doesn't seriously expect he will have the time , I'm keeping my fingers crossed for her!)

Rosalie, here in the States new cars always have a "new car" smell..Its kind of a unique smell, hard to describe. I'm wondering though, in Australia do new cars have a smell? and if so, does it smell like Eucalyptus? or perhaps vegemite?
Just a curious mind here in the States......

Aha...Rosalie is getting a new car. See how excited she is. :woohoo: Is that proof that it is way better to get a new car than a new appliance?? :hmm:
Let's take a vote on that...1 vote for new fridge. :lmao: I use the fridge more than I use a car. Love to eat...not fond of driving. Too many whacky drivers in the neck of this woods. I have total control of what I put in the fridge. :lmao:

LOL, way too funny Sharon! Let's see - what does it say that I have gotten a new fridge before a new car!?! I have always had "New-Used", lol. Shoot, even all my fridges were hand-me-downs - and bless every one of them! ;)
Janie, yep I do use photobucket, that's crazy you guys are having problems, hmmmmm. I went to my acct, clicked the little box under the photo (right next to the photo file/name, then scrolled down to the "generate HTML and ING code", got that page with all the codes listed, scrolled to the one that says "IMG clickable thumbnails for message boards - Recommended(in red)". Then I just copy and paste that code into my message body. I don't bother with the little "insert image" button anymore on my message form, just paste what I get from them.....
Yeah D, I too am flippy over Viking, but for some reason, Jer doesn't like them - weirdo. So, we've been looking and looking online and decided the 3 we like the most are the Jenn-Air, Capital and the DCS - plus AGA has a "crimson" one that is just to die for - very reminiscent of Paula's stuff, but different from the rest we like... So, next step is to figure out what body parts to sell to get one, the arm or the leg or both, probably have to promise our first-born as well... ;) We talked to his parents and the next time we go to visit, we are going to go "window shopping" so I can actually drool, erm, I mean touch them in person! :) There's only one place around here, and they only have one Wolfe, one Viking and one DCS, lol. When we walked in, and started looking the sales lady directed us to their "new appliance showroom" that they apparently just added - and we thought "oh goody!!" but nope, it was all the regular stuff, kinda ticked us off, apparently we didn't look the "type" that could have a high-end stove! ARGH! Never mind it would last us forever and ever and if we ever moved, it would be going with me, lmao!!
And Tracey, I too am a cookbook collector, lol. I have 2 bookcases full of them, but hardly use them, lol. I just like to read them, ;) Now, my hubby teases my MIL that the "big black box in the corner can make heat to cook things!" - she doesn't like to cook at all, lol.
And Ro, you better post those pics as soon as you get home with that shiny new car!!! Woo hoo! I will be riding along with you in spirit! Go faster go faster!!!:evilsmile

Tracey, or anybody who might be able to help me with photobucket - I've uploaded a video (you'll need macromedia flash to play it) where you'll hear me explaining the problems that I'm having with the settings - it shows my photobucket account and my options. If you get a chance to watch it maybe you can tell me what I'm doing wrong and if my screen looks like yours. I've got photobucket pro in case there is a difference.
Thanks bunches,

Hey Janie! Great movie by the way, lol - really very cool! After you click your little box (that was right) skip totally over the HTML and IMG stuff directly under your photo - go straight to the bottom of your album page - that's where the "Generate HTML and IMG Code" button is. It will then take you to a totally different page with all the codes. Then copy the clickable thumbnail one and paste into your message body!! Hope this helps! Great idea again on the movie, way fun!!!!

A few years ago, my oven quit working and it really didn't bother me until I wanted to cook some "slice & bake" cookies. My specialty dessert for all potlucks! LOL. I ended up eating the dough (with my kid's help) and going by the bakery at Kroger. I think I went about 3 months without a oven. I did use the stove part since I did cook when my kids were growing up. They were soooo picky, so I really didn't have much of a menu back then. I am going to cook for Valentine's Day since my hubby and I don't enjoy the huge crowds at the restaurants. Maybe I will pull out one of those cookbooks!
Tracey, I got a Desperate Housewives cookbook for myself right after Christmas. It was very fun to read!!!

Yeah, I think Janie would make a GREAT hypnotherapist or do great guided meditation cd's, lol!!!! ;)
Ok, now I want cookie dough! I used to buy the dang tubes of the Pillsbury stuff and keep it in the fridge to snack on! I'd grab spoon, flop in front of the TV and chow, lol. YUMMY!!!
I am a huge Rachael Ray fan, I have learned so much from watching her show, on just how easy some shortcuts for normally lengthy meal prepping there are!!! I have her cookbook's too, and thanks to her I now make a killer Risotto!! ;)

Tracey and Janie,
I am going to try the thumbnail thing. I took an awesome photo of my cats tonight just so I could try to do this. Mind you my cats never spend time together. They are brothers and have a love/hate relationship. The older one hates it when the younger one tries to get close to him. But if I happen to take the younger one out of the house for a vet visit, the older one goes crazy without him. So to find them together is unusual and something I find beautiful to see. (It's the small things these days that make me happy in this life)
Ok! As I close my eyes and hit the paste button........

Sharon, I reckon it depends on who is driving be it, either the car or the appliance. As long as I'm in charge of either, then they both get my vote.
Tigger, when I went to look ast your Dad's painting I couldn't get it any larger than the thumbnail. What was I doing wrong?
Janie, you continually come up with something new and interesting! Your 'movie' was fascinating and so lovely to hear your voice. And Kara, seems you also have the technical drop on me hahaha... what a cute little kitty. You two are going to have to instruct me on how to make and get these video's on board.
Diana, I do believe that the 'new car' smell is pretty much universal...no eucalyptus or vegemite aromas here :lmao: .... well not until we take a picnic basket with us Hahahaha!
Want to come on a picnic with us? Everyone is invited! I will be very happy to make the vegemite and cheese sango for anyone who wants one....:lmao: ....please! no nasty comments on the vegemite.. I has been done before and I am still recovering!:shake:

I absolutely LOVED your new Video! Your voice captivated me so much, I watched it several times. You'd be a great book narrator too! I have lots of books on CD and IPOD. The narrators are awful! I would have loved for you to narrate them! Especially my very favorite book. It's something you could even do from home LOL! There is a famous painter, Bob Ross that is on TV. Oh Ro, I am so jealous! LOL I love your new ride, oh how great :) So, how fast will it go? :evilsmile Have you "stretched her legs" yet???
I'll have to go check out your latest instructional video Janie, lol. So very clever! It makes me laugh, cause I can't STAND the way my voice sounds on tape, and I generally feel sorry for people who have to listen to it in person, lol. Thank goodness I can sing better than I can speak! Hubby and were watching a thing on Stevie Nicks one time and I was amazed her speaking voice was much different (I think it was higher) than her singing voice, hubby said I was the same way, my singing voice is lower - crazy! The most amazed I was was one time I answered the phone at work and it was the owner of a radio station - she told me she loved my voice and wondered if I'd be interested in doing voice overs and commercials - but the station was like 1.5 hours away, lol. And I think she must have been high..... LMAO!!!!! I sound squeaky to myself, lol.
We are in the process of doing a quick remodel/sprucing up of my mom's bedroom, so I will have to go and get snapping as soon as Jeremy is done with the drywall mud! Must have before and afters!!!! OHHHHH I could make a video even!!!!! :smile tee

Jane--right back at ya, chick!..:)..I hope you (and everyone else) has had a wonderful Valentines day.
Ths husband came home bearing 'gifts' today even though he and I had already done the gift thing a couple of days ago. He had gone to the gym and returned home with these in hand--perhaps he was still running on some workout adrenaline...haha.....

LOL, D, I know all about the cat you have to go to, lol. I had 6 at one point, there were 3 that were upstairs dwellers and the other 3 were the downstairs dwellers, lmao!!! And the downstairs was ruled by my Freddie, who they all hated, so the upstairs gang never came downstairs, except for dinner etc. So, if you wanted to see any of them you had to go to them, *sigh*
Oh Janie, what great photos! And what adorable critters they were too!! Yeah, like the rest I know all about the Critter Angels, and I miss every one of them, and it's been years... I just found some pictures I thought were long gone, I will have to scan them in and post them!
Wow Diana! You made out like a bandit!! I was shocked to have a small box of candy and a card on my keyboard in the morning on Valentine's Day! He knows, that to me, the card is more important than the gift- he HAS to write something in it - and he hates to write, lol. So, it's usually nice and mushy - although few words, lol. At least I then have "proof" in writing!!!!!

So Tracey, you had a cat gang thing going on at your house? That is so funny! Did they wear different colored bandanas?
My hubby got me the first two seasons of Grey's Anatomy since I didn't get hooked on it until the 3rd season. He also got me Flicka. We went to see the movie at the theater (yes with all the little girl horse lovers) the first night it was released. I just cried like a baby, which is so unlike me, since I loved the book when I was a kid. I probably read it 100 times and dreamed of having horses my entire life. My hubby always gives me such a sweet card with a sweet note!
I am also a huge fan of Tim McGraw, so it didn't hurt to sit and watch him either! While he isn't the best actor, it is nice to look at! LMAO.

LOL, I never thought of having the Easties and the Westies - it would be the Uppies and the Downies, lol. My poor calico would have been all confused with all her colors..."where do I belong?" LMAO!!!!
Ooooh Grey's! It was the 2nd season for me that I got hooked, lol. Love that show! What a nice gift from your sweetie! And the movie too, always nice when it's one that really got to you and they remembered... I try to remember these sorts of things when I am ready to strangle mine, lmao!!! ;)

I love Grey's anatomy too and have watched it from show #1. Can't believe it is already in it's third season - wow how time flies.

Tonight should be a good Grey's anatomy.

Hi all!..:D
Isnt every girl delighted to get flowers?.hahaha..I'm not the flowery girly girl type, however I love a nice bouquet of just about anything. I was pleasantly surprised by the husbands thoughfulness :) They have all opened up today and the house is quite fragrant.:flower:
Tracey, I got a laugh out the the two gangs you had rivaling in your house..:biglaugh: And the poor calico not knowing where exactly she belonged. :) It amazes me how animals can sort out their issues w/o causing too much harm to each other. My dog and cat had no problems determining boundaries and as long as they each stay within their own, peace is with them.:lmao:
I think its wonderful that your husband will hand write you a love note in a card..very sweet! Does he realize that you hold these notes as "proof"..:biglaugh:..very cute!! Lets see him try to get away now!! "hey buck-o, i've got proof! You aint goin' nowhere!"...:D
I was out and about today and dang it, i forgot my camera. I've been wanting to get a picture of Jacques Cousteau's boat thats docked in Norfolk; I've lived here all my life and only recently learned that the Cousteau's called Norfolk one of their home towns. Not sure if thats interesting to anyone other than me though..ahahahahaha..however I'll surely post the pic.
Have a good one, y'all!

Janie and Tracey - (stealing D's color idea!)I too am HOOKED on "Brothers And Sisters" and even funnier is so is my husband now! LMAO! I even somehow managed to get him hooked on "Men In Trees" as well, :evilsmile Oh my, it's awful that my days go by what's on the tube that night, lmao! But in the summer, I never watch TV, I am always outside :smile tee Oh and Janie - that is THE cutest picture of your little girl!
D - Oh yes, I make sure I save every scrap that has ever had anything remotely mushy written in it! Granted, he's a man of few penned words, so it's even more special when he does write something down! LOL Like, one year he bought me a leather bound journal (and now it's a tradition for Christmas to get me one), and he actually signed the inside cover. So, the next year when he got me one, he forgot so I handed him a pen and the journal, said - "now write! And make it nice!" LMAO!!!
Janelle Oh what a GREAT picture!! How adorable they are, looks like she's got her own living doll, and loving every minute of being the helper! ;)
Tigger I got giggling at that crazy little squirrel!! Way too funny, he was "confused", lmao. I was shocked a couple months ago - I was upstairs straightening the bedroom, and I heard a chicken. Now, the people behind us have Guinea Hens, a house a street over from us have chickens (yes, it's a weird neighborhood, lol). So, I thought it was just the usual, lol. But it sounded really close - so, I look out my window and there's a chicken in my yard, lol. Must have "flew the coop", lmao!!

I thank you though for inquiring, and to answer your question, yeah, I'm OK.:D.......OH! and before I forget, the picture of your daughter is simply precious!! :)

LOL, I used to be a night owl - a serious one. But thanks to a changing work schedule, I now have to get myself to bed much much earlier than I would like, ugh. And it's hard to stick to my weekly sched on the weekends, I want to stay up up up! Last night it was close to 2:30 when I think I finally turned the light out, lol. Doesn't even matter sometimes what time I get up - even if it's early I still could stay up late....ugh. Even so, during the week, I can't manage to get that light shut off before midnight...geesh.
Yes, D, maybe there was some chicken incident in a past life or when you were younger that you've blocked out - maybe a hypnotist can help you out... It is cute around here when there's a baby rooster and he's learning how to crow, lol!!! ;) I think they have goats over there too.....

It happens every time! I don't get to the boards and they go berzerk! I had so much to catch up on that i forget what I read :lmao: ... hnmmmmmm That isn't very hard for me these days. I seem to forget most things Grrrrrrrrrr...
Valentine's day isn't very big over here so no flowers for me, alas! No new photos either. I seem to be flat out like a lizard drinking these days. Lord only know what I have been doing... but I must be doing an awful lot of it! HAhahahahaa
I have to worry about you all and the animals... perhaps we need a 'zoo' thread. I DID see a wombat the other day (Alas! No camera) but the poor not-so -little fella was cactus! Four paws pointing to the heavens. They are way too slow to attempt crossing the road.
Anyhoo, I'd better "duck" off now :lmao:
dg2901
02-20-2007, 06:54 PM
Rosalie--its ashame you didnt have your camera when you saw the wombat-turned-cacti. You know, it would be a VERY RARE occurance for us Yanks to come across a wombat-legs towards the heavens (though that might bring on some technicolor yawns) or not!
Since you've been flat out like a lizard drinking you should remember to take your camera along incase something exciting crosses your path--and being where theres so many interesting things who knows what you'd be able to post! Oh, thats right, you just stated that you're forgetting alot of things these days. Perhaps if you tie a string around your finger you might remember?--or is it so bad that you'd forget why you had tied the string around your finger in the first place? If you werent beyond the Black Stump one of us could ring you once in a while and help you remember things that you may have forgotten. :hmm: <--thats you forgetting.

She did mention she's having 'forgetful' moments--scary if you ask me!..wandering all around in an already upside-down country is hard enough, can you imagine if you forgot where you were going and couldnt figure it all out? :help: ..all I can say to that is YIKES!!! ..However since she is one of the oldest people who posts on this thread perhaps she can lead us on the grounds of age before beauty; oh, and lets not forget with age comes wisdom so maybe we could trust her lead :hmm:

Tracey---about all we can do is keep our fingers crossed that Rosalie remembers to find her way back. Would be ashame to have to call out the National Guard to hunt her down. With there being so much bushland where she is, she could end up literally in nowhere land; i'm guessing that probably wouldnt be much different from where she is now--mentally that is! <did I just type that outloud?>
Janie---how are ya? Whats gotten you a slump? :hmm: Hopefully its just the gloom of it being winter.
Tracey (again)---like your situation, theres really not much inspiring here either. Although I have to say I havent really been looking either. Your son was an adorable baby and has grown into a very handsome young man!!
Wow - that looks like a rattlesnake! EEEEEEEEEEEEEk!
As for my slump it is totally weather related. Haven't been motivated to get out and take photos of the leafless trees and dreary skies! I have taken a ton of photos of my daughter and her dance group and would be willing to share them only with my friends here if you are interested (send me a PM and I'll send you a link to my family album). OctFern--that was a rattlesnake that my brother came upon at his work. If you look again at the first picture you can see its rattle is up and in motion. Fortunately this was in the desert southwest and not near me..hahaha..although I have to admit snakes don't bother me--my area ia infested with canebrake rattlesnakes and water moccasins, and add a few black bears to the mix. :)...and by the way, glad to see you posting to this thread--the more the merrier!..:D

I really do hate snakes......When I visit the zoo I won't even go into the reptile area at all. I am always scared that I will be walking in the reptile building and I will look down and the snakes would be crawling on the floor next to me!!! I won't watch Snakes On A Plane either!! But even worse than snakes are mice.....I totally freak out with them. My whole body hurts to even see a picture of them. I have had them in my house a couple of times and I will leave until they are caught. Isn't that terrible to be scared of something so small????

Here I am! Here I am! Oh buried in work is an understatement, ugh. It was quite a day to be sure, so very very glad it's O-V-E-R!!!!!
Love the conversation on the "dislikes", lol. My mom-in-law is horrified as well by snakes, terribly terrible afraid. She doesn't even like to come up here and stay at the family cabin much, because she MIGHT see one, lol. Snakes have never bothered me at all...but now spiders, that's a whole other story!! I hate them alive OR dead, doesn't much matter. Although, yes alive is much worse, since they are mobile and looking for me, I just know it. I can just THINK about one and I get the heebie-jeebies to the nth power, lol. *shiver* Hubby thinks it's funny because I don't even like the teeniest tiniest ones, although, truth be told - he doesn't really care for them himself, lol.
When I was married to my first husband, we had just finished building our house. No money left for a bed frame, headboard etc, so for the time being, we had the mattresses on the floor. Well, one night I had just turned the light off and had my foot sticking out of the covers...I felt something go over it - I thought it was one of the cats tails or something feline...um, nope. BIG HUGE spider, omg, it was unreal. Even husband at the time was freaking out - and spiders didn't bother him one bit. I would say it was a wood spider about the size of my palm - and it had heft to it for me to feel it like it was one of the cats - it wasn't a tickle, lol. Ok, gotta stop thinking on it, I am getting freaked out, lol.
As for mice, love em, lol. I had gerbils as a kid, same thing to me. I rescue them from my cat and let them go outside, lol. Husband laughs cause he says they'll be right back in soon, lol. My first husband was terrified of them - even the dead ones. I had to "scoop up and dispose" of the bodies, lol, all the while with him yelling from the top of the stairs "it's going to run up your leg! It's going to run up your leg!" Um, no, that little critter ain't running anywhere, :) Now a friend of mine has the same feeling of rats as I do for spiders - and she's NEVER encountered one in real life, lmao!!!

Janie I love Photoshop.I'm not terribly good at it but am getting better with practice. But as for D's suggestion.... It would do a lot of portrait artists out of commission

Now as for the "Old" comments from someone who I shall not name (but answers to anyone calling "Diana") This too shall come to you and wisdom may someday be yours as well Hahahahahaaa:lmao: Nah! only pulling your leg... I'd much rather someone having a go at me than not thinking of me at all!

Oh well while I'm lost in here, I thought I'd show you some cute and cuddlies to make up for Diana's creepy crawlies.
First is a little Bilby... they bring the easter eggs!

Rosalie,
Loved your gallery of "critters" and that portrait of the dog was truly outstanding!! Was that a pencil sketch or did you do it with Photoshop?
It is really beautiful.
Diana just cracks me up! That girl has a great sense of humor!! You too, Rosalie!
October farm, can't wait to see some photos from you.
Looking forward to some more from Tracey too!

OK, since I forgot to put my two cents worth in my last post figured what the heck, lets post again!
Now, for starters, Rosalie--you obviously misunderstood me asking Tracey about her "Ozzy accent"; while I'm fully aware of how one would pronounce A-U-S-S-I-E ('ozzy') I was referring to Ozzy, as in Ozzy Osbourne. You know, the British rock star who did the song titled "Crazy Train"; or maybe that's slipped your mind like everything else. Are you even here at the moment? Perhaps you've wandered into someone else's home in the bush. Or maybe you're having a 'senior moment' and just thinking you're remembering all this!
What the heck am I talkin' about??
Tracey--woohoo!! you showed your pretty little face today!!..yay!..You know my days arent complete without seeing your mug and 'listening' to how your day has gone. Hope your weekend proves to be productive yet restful! :D
OctFarm--you must forgive me for referring to you as OctFern; do accept my apologies! :D I'm glad my snake pictures didnt bother you; I got worried after reading your post about not being too fond of snakes and such. :).....Aaaaannnndddddd, we're all anxiously awaiting for you to post a picture..or two...or three...or, well, I'm sure you can count so I won't continue to do so..:D
Janie--lovely lovely Janie! Its really your posts that make my day...shhhhhhhhhh, dont let Tracey know this 'cause it might just be what sends her over the edge!...hahaha,,kidding of course!...Well, not kidding about you being lovely; kidding about it being destructive to her. I'm rambling--must be the martini's i've been nursing!..:woohoo:
Ok, now I've finished posting, for real this time..I think..........

Hey glad to see you have joined me in cyberspace... I'm getting quite cozy here...Hahahaha No washing, ironing or kids to bother me.
DianaI'm not sure which is the more gruesome...your son's hand or the spider!
JanieThanks for the compliment. That is a pencil sketch done on commission last week. The dog's owner has given me a number of jobs lately. Here's hoping some more work comes my way.
Now, I think I see a light way off in the distance... its beckoning me... perhaps its the way home.
I wish Shaz was in here... I'd just have to mention shopping and she'd come and find me.

OH - MY - GOSH!!!! D - those were for-real around you tar...tar...tar-antula's????? I need to sit down, and fast! My hands are sweating just looking at them!! The closest I have seen a tar...tar....antula was in a friend's place who had one as a pet! UGH!!!!! Eeegads, I can't even say the danged word!!! Oh that was evil, I didn't even have a chance to close my eyes, I was happily scrolling along, humming a snappy little tune and WHAM! There's the beast that haunts me..... The guys I work with used to think it was funny to put the big old spiders that hang outside on the shop in plastic baggies and leave them on my desk...oh good gravy!*faints*
Rosalie! YAY!!! Glad to hear you are ok, if not a bit lost, but that's ok, why don't you wander over to my place since you are out in cyberspace - it's got be easy travel - just pop on over!!! I feed ya and water you and send you on your way, lol. (After we have a great old time though!!) But do bring your pencil please, I love your work - you are so talented!! I was helping to entertain a 4 yr old yesterday and my drawing skills leave a bit to be desired...LOL
And I am with the rest - Octoberfarm show us your stuff!! LOL ;) As you can see from Diana's tar...tar...antula pictures, they can even be mean! LMAO!!!! ;)
Off to play in Photoshop now.... ;)

Diana, awwwww shucks - I'm blushing from your sweet comment!
Wow - those spider photographs were awesome! Where did you say your brother lives again?
Your son's hand looked like a terrible injury. Did he get full range of motion back after it healed?
Rosalie, you are one talented artist!!! I hope you get lots more commissions!
You know I was thinking, do you guys belong to any Yahoo groups email lists? I was wondering if I started one for IC_Photographers if it would be easier to share photos and email back and forth that way. Would anyone be interested in joining that if I started one?

First of all - what a FABULOUS photo!! That reminds me of some of the stuff I have seen in one of my photography mags when it was an issue spotlighting on people pictures, the character of them etc. Love it! The bible and the purse say it all - along with the smile on her face!!! ;)
Do you use Photobucket? That's how the rest of us are getting the clickable thumbnails -- somewhere in this thread (or the photog #3 thread) Janie does a fabulous video on how it's done! It's really easy. On your album page you click the check box of the picture you want, scroll to the very bottom of the album page, click the "generate html & IMG codes" button, it will then take you to a page of various codes for that picture that it makes for you. You copy the "clickable thumnail" code and then paste it into your post! TA-DA! :)
Keep em coming! The rest of us needs some inspiration... lol ;)
Oh hey Janie, great idea, I'm game if everyone else is! Just say when! ;)

Hee hee hee!!!!:lmao: I certainly have learned to appreciate the mundane - after all, it's those kinds of things that happen everyday, might as well celebrate them! Oh...I forgot to tell you. I am back from my trip to the Ozarks. Hubby and I were invited to stay at a friend's newly built cabin in the middle of 200 acres on the Spring River. We had a wonderful time.
This is a picture that Hubby took of the front of the cabin.
http:www.camerafirestudios.com/sharonpix/DSC07809.jpg
Ro...the Ozarks are in the middle North to Northwestern part of Arkansas. There are many lakes and small mountains. Bluegrass music comes from there.
Here's one of the back of the cabin.

Octoberfarm Fantastic! Great to see your pics. I especially love your husbands grandmother. What an amazing face! I'll bet she has some wonderful stories to tell.
Tracey Whenever I would get scared of some creepy crawlie, my dad would say "Look at the size of that little spider/wasp/hornet/whatever and look at the size of you. He's more scared of you !" hahaha never worked on me either... but at least I get to think of dad when these gruesome pics get posted Hahahahaha.
Shaz I just love the cabin! It is very big and I'll bet has loads of room for visitors. Can I please come and stay next time? And thank you for the description of where the cabin is. I have a hugh map of the world above my computor desk, so I was able to get a good idea of where it is.
Janie Can you please tell me how you got the post with your voice onto the thread. I have been playing around with the 'movie' function on the Canon. Hahahaha... very naughty I know, but I took some while driving home last night. It wasn't anything too spectacular but I would love to see what everyone else could post as well. Hearing your voice was wonderful...it makes you more than just words on a screen.
Rosalie
02-24-2007, 06:13 PM
Now this was a time when I could have used the 'movie' function. It was the funniest thing. David called me out after having already watched this comedy going on for a while.
http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f130/gyspyrose/th_Magpieonfence.jpg (http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f130/gyspyrose/Magpieonfence.jpg)
Two magpies were having great fun at my dog Kirby's expense. They were teasing him to bark at them and every time he lost interest and moved away, one of them would prance up and down the top of the fence to catch his attention, so he would start barking and jumping at them again.
http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f130/gyspyrose/th_KirbyandMagpie.jpg (http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f130/gyspyrose/KirbyandMagpie.jpg)
http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f130/gyspyrose/th_MagpiesinGum.jpg (http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f130/gyspyrose/MagpiesinGum.jpg)
They moved to the gum tree to watch him jump straight up in the air instead of banging into the fence. As soon as he came inside they flew away immediately.
I never knew birds and animals would behave that way purely for their own entertainment.
SharonA
02-25-2007, 04:58 AM

Hi everyone, I started a Yahoo group for the "IC Photographers". This is not meant to take away from our friendship and fun that we have here at the ICN as I will certainly participate on both forums, but I thought it could add to our fun and camaraderie. I would like to share photos of my daughter and family and I would feel more comfortable sharing those kind of photos in little more secure forum. Also, there is some photo storage space at the group for those who have a hard time finding some place to store their photos too. All levels of photographers are welcome from those just picking up their first camera to pro photographers if we have any.
Anyway if anyone is interested in joining me, please subscribe at:

Sharon - oh my gosh, that "cabin" is bigger than my house! LOL I'll have to scrounge up the pictures of the family cabin up here on Lake Huron now that you got that started! It's positively lovely, wow, I would have not wanted to leave. There would be claw marks on the floor from my fingernails clinging on so I wouldn't leave...lol...
Ro - Hmmm, I don't know either about that "you're bigger than them" statement, my fears defy all logic, lmao!!!! ;) And the magpie pics just cracked me up! How funny! Poor baby though, being tormented, lol. Aren't they magpies that are in the Windex commercials waiting around and laughing at humans for not seeing the closed doors due to how clean the glass is???? And I love the video feature on mine too! Wow, it has stereo sound and everything! I'll have to download some of the silly ones I have taken at my Photobucket account...
Janie - first chance I get I am signing up!!! :) And your right - the sky looks beautiful and it's so nice to see something without snow around it!! LMAO!!!
Angela- GREAT photos!! Aren't new cameras a blast? I get harrassed around here because I haven't produced any pics to share with my new one I got for Christmas, lol.
Ms. D - Hmmm, no matter what you can't convince me they are harmless, lol. I klnow they won't bite you and kill you (maybe, lol) but giving one a heartattack is just as bad, lmao!!! *shiver* I get the heebie jeebies just thinking about it - still!!!! ;) And I do hope your contamination level has been reduced????
dg2901
02-26-2007, 09:02 AM
The contaminated one has returned to the land of the non-contaminated.
Jane--you gonna let me in the Yahoo group or am I going to have to beg? :)
Tracey--a tarantula bite feels a bit like bee sting. Yeah, i'm one of those who had one as a pet and of course being the person that I am would push the little fella to his limits. Oh, and aside from biting they can release their hairs which will stick into you like needles. Fortunately I've never encountered that, and dont plan on it either! There was a story in the paper about a local kid who's friends tarantula did this to him and the hairs ended up in his eyes--not a good thing!
Rosalie--y'all have Windex down there?
Thats it for me folks.
Off to wait for a certain someone to let me into the Yahoo group that she started (JANIE!).
Diana, no longer contaminated, now just feeling neglected.

My first husband and I went to Cancun, I guess I'll have to dig some of them out - of me, lol. It was sooooo windy there! There was absolutely no point in doing my hair, once outside it was flapping straight out sideways! Oh no, maybe I don't want to see them, I had a rule only pics from the waist up - feeling a bit pudgy back then, and there was one in my bathing suit that the rule was broken - looking back now I was crazy to not be happy with the body I had...*sigh* I can be such a silly sometimes....
Janie - I signed up today for the list! Yay!! Um, do I have to beg too??? ;)

And to answer your tarantula question--well, looking back I suppose the only fun I got out of the little fella was scaring the bejeebies out of our housekeeper (i still lived at home); she wouldnt come into my bedroom for fear it would get out of its cage...:biglaugh: Little "Boochie" was completely harmless! :)
Rosalie--looks like you best bring several bottles of Windex with you when you head across the pond-Tracey's started something for sure!

Not photo, related but I finally did something I've been wanting to do ever since we became parents: Drum Roll . . . I finally got someone to come and help me with housework!!! Yipppeeeee. I have a lady who comes on Tuesdays and she and I both tackle the house at the same time. The best part, since I have so many chemical sensitivities is that she does the bathrooms and dusting and stuff and my allergies are doing a lot better. It takes me so long to pick up all of my daughter's toys that by the time I do that I'm too exhausted to clean! LOL
Anyway, just had to share this milestone with my ICN buddies!

So. all you people asking for my window cleaning expertise.... you do realize there will be a charge of $20 per hour? :lmao: And don't go slinging off at he aussie dollar exchabge rate cause it is currently up around US.80cents, so you won't be getting it for nothing! :lmao:

Good morning everyone! How is everyone doing? I've awakened with the cold from "Hades" again. Basically, it's the same one that I have had off and on since Thanksgiving. Thanks everyone for your concern! :-)Just got back from the doctor. She did some kind of swab test and they diagnosed me with flu. She didn't seemed too concerned at first that I have felt like this off and on since before Thanksgiving but finally I convinced her that I'm more worried about having this chronic cough than about having a case of the flu so she took chest Xrays (appeared normal) and has scheduled a Cat Scan for next Monday.
She seems to think it is Acid Refux/and or allergies causing the cough so I'm supposed to try Prevasid and Zyrtec. Anybody have experience with these two drugs? If so how did it affect your IC. Thanks again for listening to me whine a bit!
traceann
03-01-2007, 08:57 AM
I take Zyrtec, and do absolutely fine with it, I love it. And my doc even mentioned that it can be a little added extra help with my bladder!! I can't say I have ever taken Prevacid though, I do take Pepcid by Rx and love that too, lol ;)
dg2901
03-01-2007, 11:11 AM
Janie, glad you went to the DR. Hopefully you'll start feeling better very soon.
Regarding Zyrtec, this is one of the meds my URO and UROGYN prescribed for my bladder. I've also taken it for an allergic reaction/hives (this was prior to the bladder RX) with no problems.
Feel better soon, dear!

Nah, didn't get any pics at all, I was lucky to find my candles in the dark when it went out, and the next day was nothing to speak of outside like I thought it might be, drag. So, no - unfortunately nothing to share...*sigh*

Jane--that picture captured the kids moods perfectly I think. They were both happy campers all day! Hard to do when you're 2 and 5 years and being dragged around by 'old' people all day..hahahahaha
Tracey--the camera is a Nikon D70 and it had a 18-70mm lens attached; there were no filters. She doesn't know anything about how to use the camera so I was on my own; fortunately I know just enough to be dangerous! :lmao:
Sad thing is, now I want one! :help:

Ok, I think I am going to start searching the house, I have a few particulars that would look neat I think. Funny you should bring that up Janie, I had an idea to take a pic of this cat figurine, that's folk-artsy. It's the first "knicknack" I have ever bought myself that wasn't really all that inexpensive, lol. But it was something just for me......
Nah, I have been scared imobile at the thought of the developing costs right now, yikes...Maybe this summer I'll have some extra cash.... lmao!! But I KNOW there are some killer shots on them, a lot of nature etc, I just maybe have to try one a week or something, lol.

Tracey--do you have s Sams Club anywhere near you? They have fairly cheap prices on film developing. If I'm not mistaken, 2-3 day processing is only like 13 cent per print; their 1 hour service is only something like 17 cents per print. Another benefit they offer is if you dont like/want a particular print you dont get charged for it.
Just my 2 cents worth of invaluable information for the day! :D
Janie--I've got so many things around my house that mean something to me I'm not so sure I'd be able to whittle it down to just one or two. I'd have to say though that the one thing I hold dearest to my heart is my mom's wedding/engagement ring set. She passed unexpectedly one week prior to my 16th birthday. The 2nd dearest would have to be my dads camera's. If I can get ahold of a working camera perhaps I'll take a pic or two. And before anyone asks, my camera is on the fritz....again.

Great shots D!!!! I love the ship - that's one you should frame, it's so cool!!!! Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, I did however figure out what item I want to take my photo of as in Janie's suggestion, but I guess I have to remember to actually DO IT, lmao!!! Everyday I say to myself, "ok, get the pic" and everday I forget to do it, geesh.
Oh Ro!!!! Firstly, how was the wedding? And secondly those are great signs! All we have around here is the White Tail deer heads in silhouette (bucks of course). That's it, no other critter crossings in my neck of the woods!! ;)

Tracey--regarding perhaps framing the ship photo, I think I'd want it in black and white--what do you think? I also have a hard time framing shots of local attractions.hahaha..I think "well, its just down the street so why do I want it hangin' in my house"...stupid thought, I know! :loco:
I'm thinkin' that you're going to have to tie a ribbon around your finger to help you remember that you have a camera thats wantin' to be broken in...
Aaaannnd, perhaps you need a "this ain't the 'possum lodge" sign hangin' on your property!:hmm: :lmao:
Rosalie--so y'all really do have kangaroo's and such just wandering around the roadways down there, huh? :hmm:
Speaking of wildlife, I was out and about the other night--looking at houses--when I noticed a little deer standing on the side of the road. He/she appeared to be getting ready to run across to the other side to catch up with its family. While they're cute to see, its a bit unnerving when you see them so close to the roadway late at night due to their lack of ability to realize when its safe to cross a road. Last thing you want is to hit a deer as the outcome is not good for the deer or the motorist.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

LOL, I understand what you mean D, I am the same way about local stuff, BUT, it's just such a neat perspective of the ship, that it's definitely frame-worthy!!! ;)
Yeah, I am thinking about grabbing the camera right now... and haven't seen hubby's little buddy lately either...he went to take the garbage out last night and I asked him if he was taking a snack to his little friend....lmao!!! ;)

Ok here we go: A couple of my favorite items -
First thing, my folk art kitty I bought for myself, my clear glass one I just got from my inlaws as one of my birthday gifts..

LOL, thanks girls! That folk art kitty is the first knicknack I guess you could say that I bought and didn't care it was a bit more than I wanted to pay for, lol. But I had never just bought something "to decorate with", that was out of the ordinary, if that makes any sense. Like my first official piece of art, even though it's not and wasn't that pricey, but that's how it feels/felt, lol. I didn't even notice the cute saying on the side "Don't Cross My Path" the first time I looked at it, I just liked the crazy cat! LOL
Oh isn't that little glass neat? I love the red fish in his tummy, lol.
You should have seen hubby looking at me funny while I snapping pictures of them - I even got the tripod out, that reallly threw him for a loop!! LMAO!!!!

And yes, D, I had the tripod out, lol. Figured if I was going to snap I might at well mess with some stuff, lmao!! And those picutures are GREAT!!!! Oh what trip down memory lane eh? I recognize those 80's hairdos!!!!!! ;) Now I gotta find some of me.....hmmm.....

Diana,
I LOVED that spectacular shot of the USS Wisconsin. What a cool angle that you got to take the photo. Also really enjoyed your family photos. Your hair cut looked good! My sister used to be a hair dresser before she went back to school and got her masters and became a high school teacher. I use to get all kinds of experimental haircuts. You look like you have a lovely full head of hair to work with. I'm totally jealous! Mine is fine and thin.
Your son is a real charmer! He's adorable in the baby shot and a very handsome little guy in the footbal shot!
Rosalie,
Cute shot of the roadsign. Do you see a lot of exotic animals crossing the road in that area??

Janie---the bow of the USS Wisconsin sits within feet of the street. Its in a perfect spot for pictures (hmmm, wonder if that was intentional..haha)..Its docked at Nauticus Maritime Center; I guess I should have attempted to capture the building as well as the ship. <pause>-I just found this picture on the website and figured I'd post to give everyone a look-see..:)..
Nauticus Maritime Center....(photo "borrowed" from internet)...

Regarding the haircut experience..haha..I was at a hair show and the stylist was short a model so someone grabbed me in the hallway of our hotel and recruited me..haha..She talked me into "adding some color" to my new 'do once I got home, so of course I did! The next year found me with fuscia plum colored hair.. Gotta love being a stylist...or knowing one!, as it sounds like you can attest to, Janie!..:lmao: ...I've recently learned that the hairstylist courage must be passed down as my son came home a couple weeks ago with jet black hair, and just this past weekend came home with navy blue hair! :hmm: Good thing the football thing didnt take!..hahahahaha
And isnt it wonderful to start seeing the beginnings of spring!!!? This week is supposed to provide us with temperatures in the lower 70's (around 22 C for all you Celcius people :loco: ). I'm looking forward to being able to open up all the windows allowing the fresh air in! :woohoo:
Tracey--yes, you must post some of your "memory lane" pics!
Rosalie--you havent posted since you showed us that sign--hope you didnt get run down by some wild kangaroo's or koala's!
Have a good one, y'all!

When my husband and I went to England several years ago, we kept seeing crossing signs with old people on them. Just like the ones we see with deer crossing. I will find one of the pictures and post it. They were a riot to see. It would be picture of an old woman and man with a cane.

Janie--indeed I do remember you stating about your husband being retired Naval Aviation..:D..I asked you if he (you) had ever been stationed in Norfolk NAS or at Ocean Naval Air Station, Va Beach. I think of you all the time when the fighter planes are out and about--everyday! We're about 15 miles from Oceana NAS so unless we venture that way, or if the planes are flying different maneuvers/courses, we don't get to see them. Saying that, we enjoy riding down towards the base, finding a nice parking lot and watching the pilots do their thing..:D...we have our own private air show here in Va Beach on a daily basis. I'll have to take the camera with me one day and see if I can capture them in action. Our favorite grocery store is less than a mile from NAS so that would provide an excellent spot for pictures. When the pilots are having a somewhat relaxed day (and I use the term "relaxed" loosely), they'll tip their wings when they see someone on the ground watching--they're flying so low that you can clearly see the pilot, no problem. When ones not expecting them to fly over, it can be quite a startling experience..haha..when they've got their engines full throttle theyre moving at such speed that you can't hear them coming until they've already passed; that of course is followed by the most ear-splitting sound you've ever heard!--love that! :)..So, from me to your husband-"job well done!"
Now, I dont think I can say it enough--Mr. MuShu kills me!.:biglaugh: His facial expresssions are priceless. :)
Tracey83--I've seen pictures of the signs you're referring too..very funny! Here in Va Beach, we have "no cursing" signs. Its a white sign with symbols such as @$#%& on it with a red slash running through it. People think its a joke until a police officer hears cursing and issues a ticket..:tsk:
I've rambled enough so I'll off!
Ta Ta for now...

Heres another view of Nauticus Maritime Center. The cruise ship in The Pride of America--Norfolk was one of its stops when *Live With Regis and Kelly* was broadcasting from there when the ship was commissioned. This was one of the first pictures I took with my camera. This was taken just after sunrise in June of '05. The bald guy to the right of picture looking at the ship is Kevin.

Hey everyone,
I wrote a long reply last night but when I went to post it, the site was down for upgrades :lmao:
Janie, that MuShu is a real ham! Does he pose whenever a camera comes near? hahahaha! And The message from you daughter is priceless. They are the things that stay with you forever and will always give you pleasure.
But you can make me laugh too... you see, to us down here, the roos aren't exactly 'exotic' more of a pain if you are driving at dusk, Much the same as the dear that Tracey talked about...now I would think a squirrel on the road as exotic :lmao:
Diana, what are you doing hanging around naval bases? Wouldn't be trying to pick up a couple of sailors..would you?....(cause if you are heheheeh save one for me!..I have had a 'thing ' for sailors forever.. Shhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! Don't tell anyone..... but I dated the HMAS Derwent for a while Hahahahaha!!!!! Now THEY were the days!
Tracy, I would LOVE to see the 'Old people" signs. I could copy one and put it up outside my house hahahahaha!

Tracey Ann--I just checked all my secret hiding spots and for the life of me cant remember where my "stash" is hidden..:hmm:..If I happen upon them, I mean him, I'll be sure to send them, uhhh him, your way. ;) By the way, how was lunch yesterday???? \~/
Rosalie--my backyard was filled with "exotic" squirrels this morning. If I wouldnt have been so sleepy and disoriented from being awake all night last night perhaps i would have been able to locate my camera and get a pic or two for you. Perhaps tomorrow morning I'll be more together and might, depending on my mood, go out and snap a pic or two.
I have a feeling you--and probably Miss Tracey--are going to inquire as to what was keeping me up all night, so to save you/y'all the time I'll go ahead and answer: First off, I was NOT hanging around any military bases. Many years ago I was engaged to an Army soldier and while it was all nice at the time, I learned that military life wasn't for me. Anyway, I was up all night pondering human existance, and trying to make sense of how and why everyone on this planet is all connected. All of my pondering was helped along with a brew called Fosters. Its supposedly an Australian beer--do y'all really have this brand in Oz? is Fosters really "Australian for beer"?
Janie--where have you been hiding out the past couple of days?
Sharon---yooooooohoooooooooo, where are yoooooouuuu?
Now, its pushing noon and i've yet to sleep; so on that note I'm going to quit typing and go find myself a bed.
Nighty night, y'all!

Hi Diana, Here I am!! I wrote a reply to your first message about the Naval aviators and like Rosalie, for some reason my reply didn't post and I was too tired to type any more! Now I can't remember what I wrote. Oh, yeah, I remember . . . I told you that my husband didn't fly on those "sexy" jets he flew on a big lumbering anti submarine warcraft plane. A big ol' thing that doesn't land on carriers. John still looked pretty sexy in those flight suits though and really great in that white uniform like they wore in the movie Officer and a Gentleman!! :evilsmile John's been retired for about 4 years now and I miss those uniform days!
I ought to try to find some photos of us back in our glory days and post them to the yahoo list.

Jane--so yours and Rosalie's post are crashing the system these days huh? :tsk: :D
I laughed at your "sexy"reference to the fighter planes. The more I thought about it the more I'd have to agree though. Those planes are quite "sexy" arent they?? :woohoo: I'm not big on a man in uniform, however every now and then I'll happen upon a fighter pilot in his flight suit and I must say its quite the piece of eye candy! :evilsmile
I'd like to see the pics of your military days. If you can find them by all means post 'em. I'll keep my eye out on the Yahoo group! :)

D...:hi: I am here where I always am. No, that's not exactly true. Hubby and I went to the cabin (the one I posted pictures of a couple of weeks ago) last weekend and are going again this weekend. Can't seem to get enough of that place. It is so peaceful.
I am an Air Force Brat and grew up around men in uniform. I must say that they still "take my breath away" like in the song in Top Gun. Is that the right movie? The sight of a military man can still melt my heart.
I also grew up around Fighthers, B52s, KC135s, and other planes. I remember how wonderful the pilots looked in what we affectionately called their "flight jammies". Oh my!!!! While on alert, they had to go everywhere wearing them because they never knew when there would be an Alert and they would have to take flight.

Oh Sharon, we had Wurtsmith AFB (a SAC base) in our town so most of my friends growing up were military. I had one really great guy friend (I met him through his wife when I was 15 so he'd have been 22, they divorced and he and I stayed friends - poor guy was my sounding board for my teenage tragedies, lol) who was Crew Chief on one of the bombers. It was always funny when he went on alert and had to stay on base, we'd be on the phone constantly, lol. Oh those were the good old days - all us girls for the most part loved the guys cause they always had cool cars!!! Well, the ones in the dorms anyway, nothing else to spend their money on!! LMAO!!!
Oh yes, TOP GUN - I feel the need..... the need for speed!!!!
