ok well i'm new to this. I'm 21 and I was diagnosed last thursday with ic and i had the hydro cysto done. its now 4 days later and the pain is getting worse. before the procedure I was feeling ok and now i have the constant urge to urinate and pains in my pelvic area. It doesn't burn it just continually feels like i have to go to the bathroom no matter if i have to go or i dont. I can't stand this!! I can't stand up! Riding in the car is torture! Is this normal? Ive been popping hydrocodiene like it is candy. Help!!

Wow. I had pain after mine, but not like this. The first thing that comes to mind is an infection. I would go get checked out or go to the er asap. Dont let it get to the kidneys if you can help it! Even if you dont have an infection they can give you pain releif through an iv. Good luck:pray:

I agree.. any time anything is put up the urethra, we run the risk of infection. It's actually a fairly common occurrence after a cysto/hydro. I'd do like Erika says and go get checked out to make sure you don't have one. :grouphug:

oh crap,i keep reading all these cysto/hydro horror stories and my first one is tomorrow .i have very low tolerance to pain,to the point where i have passed out many times from pain.my doc says it should not be a painful procedure but i don't have much faith in docs for some strange reason:loco: i tend to believe the people who have actually had it more.i hope they don't brush me off if i am in too much pain, since their convinced it doesn't hurt.i am sorry to hijak your thread, but, this is like the 8th thread in a week about a painful cysto/hydro.i hope to god you feel better soon, and i think everyone else is right, you should get checked out just to be safe.atleast you'll know if everythings ok. that you feel better soon.

thanks everyone. I finally got a hold of my uro (thanks to my VERY persistent husband) He called in a prescription for peridium. Ive taken it before but doesnt it help burning more than urgency? i have faith it will alleviate it some. I need to go back to work!

Dont sweat it. You will do great. The pain I had was comparable to a strong flare, nothing more. It was easier than A flare because the pain was different to me and it went away within 24 hours. Ask your doc tomorrow for a antibiotic after your procedure just to be sure. I did take one but I was fine, no infection. That being said I am very suseptable. I will say that knowing that I have IC now and seeing my bladder was the trade off for me. Im so glad I did it. Heating pads, baths(this helped most) and pyridium were the combo that helped me. Good Luck

Oh BTW, If your doc would give you a couple of pain pills for the day-like 5, that would help, but you will do ok with out.
