Hello all,
I'm new here. I've been having symptoms since Thanksgiving 2006 and had my hydrodistention/cysto/biopsy under general anethstisia this past Thursday (2 days ago)
Good news is, the uro told my husband that it doesnt' look like IC, but it may be something called Bladder Pain syndrom or something.

Anyway, in recovery, I could not pee right away. They would not let me go home until I could pee on my own. I was afraid of being catherterized again (painful for me) so I forced myself to pee by pushing.

It worked and they let me go home.

I'm still having trouble peeing though. I still feel like I have to push to get urine to come out. I'm not in too much pain, but It's worrying me a little.

Could it be that I'm still swollen down there?

I've taken the antibiotics that they gave me, etc. and am otherwise doing pretty well.

Anyone have any suggestions or similar experience?
Thanks!
M

hi MLM,

it sounds like a bit of retention to me - i would get it checked out to be safe to make sure you don't have or develop any infections or other issues

good luck feeling better soon - glad to hear it otherwise went well - going in for my first cysto-hydro this coming wednesday *fingers crossed*

I had mine done yesterday and have found it really hard to urinate. My bladder is really full, but hardly any comes out, I have to sit there forever and tried to push... but the doctor said this should be normal for a little bit after the procedure

Your lucky.
My doctor didnt' tell me anything! I dont' like her. She never tells me anything informative. When I ask questions, I feel as though she is really vague and quick with me. I always feel as though she's pushing me out of the office. I'm changing doctors. I have an appt. with a Dr. at the University of Penn so hopefully he will be more informative!

hmmmmm. Bladder Pain Syndrome - that is just another name for IC from what I've heard.

Hope you start feeling much better soon.

Keep an eye on the size of your belly...if you notice it swelling and/or you have a lot of pain you may be retaining too much and this can lead to further complications. You may need to be cathed. Ask for a pediatric non latex catheter. They are very small and more easily tolerated. Best wishes. Keep us posted on how you're doing!

I think Janie is right, IC is also Painful Bladder Syndrome...

But I had alot of retention after my hydro/cysto..

Heres a site that tells you its the same thing:
