Appreciate info on TENS

Thanks for the responses. Is it used in other medical areas too? I have rotator cuff tendonitis in my shoulders and had some treatment at the physical therapist where they attached electrodes to my shoulders and sent a electric current to the area--it felt like fire ant bites. Is TENS a similar thing? Is it for pain only or other IC symptoms too? Stay strong, Subarusue

I've used TENS a couple of times for pain from stress in my neck and shoulder. I find it soothing for pain. Like when you were little and got a boo-boo, remember when your mom used to rub it really fast to make the pain go away? I think it's the same principle, the vibration on the skin somehow helps the pain. I'm not really sure, but that's how someone explained it to me.

Hi Sue,

I was in a car wreck about a year ago, and the physical therapist used a tens unit, on me. The electrode things they attach to your skin, and you turn the machine up it feels like bugs or ants crawling on you. It helped my sore neck. What I am wondering is if there is a surgically implanted tens, from what I have read on the boards that seems to be the case, and how does that work?
