Hydro-distention please help

Hi,

I went to see the urologist today and he checked me out for recurrent utis. Then he said he doesn't think I have IC but wanted me to do a hydrodistention just to be sure.

I'm afraid of this procedure as I've read online that it can actually cause bleeding and ulcerations. And I'm not sure why I should have this as he said he doesn't think I have IC.

As far as the recurrent utis he said that there was nothing they could do for it. (I've already tried antibiotics prophylactically) So I'm at a loss of where to turn now... (I get a uti about 1 in 5 times that I have sex)

Can hydrodistentions actually hurt you? Has anyone ever "gotten" IC from the trama inflicted on their bladders during a hydrodistention?

Could be that you have a syndrome called "honeymoon cystitis." I had this crazy situation at one time in our marriage. You can be given a single dose of cipro to take immediately following sex. Have you tried this?
