How many out there have been helped by an antihistamine (mainly urethral burning) Does it also help spasms?

Ten + years, never diagnosed w/ IC just the prostatitis diagnosis. Never have taken anything that has helped, but I also gave up on doctors a couple years after it all started and going through all the tests and tons of antibiotics without ever having an infection.
Thanks

Antihistamines help by blcoking mast cells. IC patients have mast cells in the bladder. When these cells atre active and close to the nerves tehy can act up and cause pain, burning, etc.

Some people take OTC benadryl (x2) at night, that help fall sleep too.

One way to reduce the urethra burning is take more water so that your urine will be more diluted, spray with water after voiding.

Elavil helped me the most with urethral symptoms. I did not get any help from antihistamines for the urethral problems.

so yesterday i went for a cat scan of my kidney and pevic areas. i go in to alaphaltic shock easily. So the treated me with steriods 12 and 2 hours before, benydral and tagmet and for the first time in months I was 100 percent pain free. that is including a 2 hour car ride to the hospital i wonder if the antihystimine and steriods play a huge part in relief...something to think about
