Itchy/dry ears, anyone?

My ears (deep inside) have been itching me like crazy lately (despite numerous attempts at wax removal, and there just is no more wax), so I'm starting to think that maybe it is dryness, like dry/eyes mouth. I am taking Ditropan XL, and have had the itchy ears since around that time. Anyone else? Am I just nuts? Do they have drops for dry ears like they do for dry eyes?

Hi Debra, I have the same problem going on myself. I actually blamed it on the wax because I always have a buildup after about six mo. or more. I would itch till I thought I made the wax impacted. Then it would block up at times when my head was on the pillow on one side at nite. I wouldn't be surprised if it was some type of a fungus like yeast or allergy. I don't take any meds that could cause it......I know what u are talking about though.......

Debra, you can get a yeast ifection in your ears. My cousin was going crazy until sSHE finally suggested the possibility to HER doctor...I don't know what they did to get rid of it then, but these days there are many anti-fungal preparations....if it doesn't go away maybe you can get tested....

I also have "itchy ears". It is way deep inside. I am not taking any med's. I think it would tend to be more fungal. I would see an ENT doctor. My itching comes and goes.

Hi All,

I have had that itching in my ears since I was little. My mom took me to an ENT and he told me that it is allergies. Just like you can get itchy eyes and noses you can get itchy ears when things are pollinating (sp?)

Anyway, benedryl helps mine a lot as well as a wet q-tip to scratch way down deep. http://www.ic-network.com/ubb/smile.gif

If you use hair spray, be sure to cover your ears so none gets in there. I had horribly itchy ears for a long time before I learned that the hair spray was the culprit. I just put a tissue over each ear while I spray.
