OMG DO I HURT! This testing was done in an or at the hospital. My urodynamics was normal except I only hold about 1/3 of my total bladder if that makes sense. My pelvic floor was in very bad spasm, and he said I need to learn how to relax or I will continue to hurt. I had a regular cysto, except he said he was 'passively stretching' my bladder. Passive my butt, I was crying and shaking with pain. Well the good/bad news is my IC was cleary visable not only to my doc but also to me on the tv. So my dr said "you have IC, see me in 3 weeks." I said ok. Well at least I know now whats going on and its not in my head, and I also wonder what my bladder would look like under hydro distention. Any tips on how to make myself comfy today? I was in the tub and that helps a little, and now I have the heating pad on my tummy-soothing. I also took a pyridium and a codiene. THanks!!!

I'm glad you were diagnosed today -- amazing that you could be diagnosed via cysto without distention! That doesn't often happen, but I'm glad it did, so you can start treatment.
If you don't feel more comfortable after what you've already done, perhaps you can call the doctor and see if there is anything he can do to help.

After my cysto, I took 1/2 a vicodin and a benadryl. That with the heating pad and hot bath put me in a ok place. Hope you feel better and just rest!

I'm glad you finally got your diagnosis! I know you were worried about nothing showing up...you've got the proof now! I'm glad to read that you're feeling better now. It sounds strange, but I'm happy for you! Well, I'm not happy you have IC, but I'm happy you got your dx! LOL
Hugs, Sandy

Thanks Sandy!!! Yeah it was strange but as soon an he put the scope in and put some fluid in, you could already see the IC. It looked like really really blood shot eyes but all over my bladder. There were a few areas that looked like a red walnut on my bladder wall, not raised though. My fiance is being great. He has told our friends what ic is and how it feels. He also explained that it was crippiling and very painful. I heard him on the phone when he though i was asleep. it made me cry how much he knew and that he was truly aware of what it was like. Well anyways, it was a blessing to have this show up the way it did, without the hydro, its very rare for this to happen though?!

I have been watching these boards for about a year now, but only posted a couple times. It has been the HUGE help for me. You had a cysto without anasthesia? I was diagnosed 3 1/2 years ago and have had 2 cysto/hydros under anesthesia, and every instill and med you could think of, with no luck. My bladder doesnt seem to respond to any of it. I just started seeing Dr Raz at UCLA, and am scheduled for urodynamics and a cysto on Feb 13th. I just found out that hes is doing the cysto in his office with NO anesthesia, this makes me EXTREMELY nervous. Would just like to know what to expect (should I bring the boxing gloves?) I have a very sensitive urethra, very nervous about this, and it takes alot to make me nervous. I have had six surgeries, to include a hysterectomy and then an emergency surgery for peritonitis cause they screwed up on the hysterectomy. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

As far as your urethra goes, you will be just fine. The filling process to me felt like lots of pressure like during a bad flare. What hurt me the most was the pinching sensation when the scope passed my bladder neck and that pain continued for about 24 hrs. They numb your urethra so no pain there. Also expect to have your feet/legs in sturips. I discussed my privacy with my doc so he kept me as coverd as possible. they also sanitized my genital area, it felt like a cold baby wipe. This was no discomfot for me since I dont have vulvadynia. Then they insert the scope and your bladder is on tv! Thats about all, pyridium is your friend the rest of the day along with a heating pad and a warm bath. When I went to bed that night I was pretty uncomfortable but when i woke up the next day I felt good as new or maybe even a little better? well anyways good luck to you and send me a pm if you have more questions!!!
