Just wondering if there is a list of IC clinics and docs in Canada. If there is a possibility of another doc in Alberta I would like to know if possible.

Hi Kim,
So glad to see you over here, I knew you would be here !!
Well after some research here are some web sites to check out in your area..
http://www.urologyalberta.ca/faculty.asp
http://www.obgyn.med.ualberta.ca/pdf/news_docs/Binder1.pdf
We use to have a list of IC doctors on the Canada IC message board but I could not find that list...
So try this and see if you have any luck with some of the Physicians in your area..
I wish I could do more to help you Kim..
I am thinking of you my friend !!

I live in Cleveland now, but I'm originally from Canada - born in North Bay, grew up in Montreal. Have lots of relatives in the Windsor area, and a sister who lives near Trenton, Ont. I've spent most of my live in the US, but I'll always be Canadian!

Hi there. I hope that you all are having a "good" IC day today! I don't get on the boards very often. I'm here in Vancouver, BC. I was diagnosed in 1999 :cussing: & now its 2007 & I haven't worked since August 2004. I try to keep my hopes up. I have great support from my husband & a super Dr[s]. I miss my job & social life but I am better off than some & worse off than others, that's how the ball bounces:) :) . All the best to you, may the IC monster stay in it's cave. Take care. Great Big Hugs :cat: Janette

Hi Everyone,
I wish that I could say that I am new to this but I have been suffering with IC for the past 5 years. I am still trying to figure out what works and doesn't work for me and I guess that you could say that I've been in denial for the past few years until this past December when I had a very bad flare up and reality set in. Anyway, I am new to this site, I have looked around quite a few times, but never actually registered until recently. I am hoping to find others in my area (Windsor, Ontario). I am not even sure if there is a support group, but if so I would love to know about it so that I can contribute and receive some support of my own or even just have a new friend to chat with who can relate to what I am going through. So please anyone who is from my area, I hope to hear from you soon! Bye for now!!

hello all you canuck gals. I'm from southern ontario but spend my winters in texas. The ol' IC thing definitely tries my patience day by day. And when I wake up to that particular flarey feeling the the morning I wonder if it will ever get any better ... but on the good days I don't even think about it until sometimes later in the day. And those days I have hope.
I received the following diagnosis from my Uro/Gyn after a half hour chat and no physical exam (thank god! enough with those!!) "yup, sure sounds like IC". That was it. He suggested diet modification and then said "and we'll see you every six months to keep an eye on it".
Helpful. But not too illuminating. I am hopeful for remission and recovery and try to take each day as it is handed down. This site, as changeable and crazy as it is has really helped me get a handle on my life again.
good days to you all, and warm feet! smiles: siriuspsyclist

The ica has a list of physicians specializing in the treatment of ic in any country. You just fill out a form and write which country you'd like info on and they send it to you by e-mail. I got mine after a few days. None in Montreal, unfortunately for me!

Hi there. I'm currently living in Cleveland, Ohio, but it looks like I'm going to be moving to Belleville, Ontario in the next few months. I'm originally Canadian (born in North Bay, grew up in Montreal) and have lived in Ohio for almost 40 years. I just got "downsized" and am tired of having to constantly worry about medical insurance - $700 a month for lousy insurance is not a good deal! My sister just opened a small law practice in Belleville and needs an assistant, especially one who can write - like me! I'll miss my friends and family here, but this is a great opportunity to get a fresh start.
Of course, I'm going to need to find some doctors once I get there, and from what I understand there's an IC specialist in Kingston, which is just an hour from Belleville. I'm going up next week for a visit and I'll be able to check out a few things. In the meantime, I have to get my condo ready to sell, which means sorting through a mountain of stuff and repainting some rooms a more "neutral" color that won't scare away potential buyers!

I was thinking the same thing---where are all the canadians....
I was diagnosed in may of 2007....
I had been suffering for about 3 or so years before being diagnosed..(and i do mean suffering :toilet::bonk:)
It started like a UTI----excruciating pain when i would go but always negative urine test and it was weird since it would come off and on but more intense and more frequently until i was just flaring every day till i finally got diagnosed....
I had horrible urethral symptoms and urgency too....
Thankfully i didn't have any ulcers....
I realize now having actually suffered a UTI, i realize my flaring pain was way worse than the UTI pain.....so no wonder i went a lil batty :bonk: after a while before i got diagnosed....
Anyway just figured to tell my history of the IC on here....
i am from victoria, BC......we finally have nice weather.....:woohoo:
well i hope everyone is having a good bladder day and if not hopefully the painkillers kick in soon for all our flarers out there.....:smile tee
take it easy
:hi:

Hi there!!! There doesn't seem to be too much activity from the Canadians. But let's keep in touch anyway. Hope you're having a really nice weekend, so far. We've got a lovely day for the start of a long weekend, at least us Canadians do!
