Do any of you have stringy things that pull out of your dry eyes? I have that and my eyes itch from being so dry. My mouth is so incredibly dry that when I'd kiss someone I'd have to drink something first....going to be real annoying with the husband when I move in....REAL annoying....My nose is dry and bleeds a lot too.........the worst thing is my feet. No matter what lotion or exfoliation I do they just stay dry and crackly. I thought I was the only one!

Any advice for dry feet? I know the mouth, nose and eyes are from meds, but the feet?

Hi Sandy, I find that Vaseline Advanced Healing Lotion, really helps my feet to stay soft, and also Vaseline Lip Therapy helps with the dry lips. I put it on under my lipstick and it really helps.I know what you mean about the dry mouth, I am exactly the same way. Hope it helps, hugs Iris. hi hat

I had to stop taking some medications because they were drying my mouth and nasal passages so badly. I do still have a constant fight with dry skin --- the feet are the worst part. It's not as bad if I wear socks all the time, but I have a tendency to just shove my feet into a pair of clogs around home. and spring is coming so I'll switch from the clogs to sandals --- not good either. :(

The thing that helps my feet most is, and you won't believe this --- bag balm, which is meant to be put on cows' udders.

Thanks Iris, and Donna.

Iris, I have some of that lotion in my cabinet. I'm going to start using it and see how it does.

Donna, where would one find this utter cream? I'll use anything because it is almost sandal time and I hate having ugly feet.....at least I feel that they're ugly just because of the dryness.

Thanks! Sandy

I get Bag Balm from our local feed store, but it's also available in other stores.

Hi to all!

Just wanted to let you no that you can buy bag balm at CVS or rite aid along with Joann fabrics. It is a wonderful product.
If you have a sallys beauty supply by you, pedi care makes this mask fofr your feet. I will have to go home and look for the name of it. But it is ocean blue in color. It feels wonderful and works great.
I will let you no the name of it tom.

Sandy-

Have you gotten tested for Sjogren's Syndrome? If you aren't familiar with it, it is a condition where the white blood cells attack your moisture producing cells. The most common symptoms are dry eyes and dry mouth. If it is systematic, it can be in other areas of your body too. It doesn't necessarily mean you have it, but it might be worth looking into. I too have that stringy discharge in my eyes and have had it for a year now with my eyes being completely dry. I went to the opthamologist the other day and he did a test to see how much water my eyes produce and retain and said that my eyes are bone dry! There are 3 layers to your eyes: mucous, water and a fatty oil/gel that keeps the water in yor eyes. Apparently if you have problems with holding water in your eyes, the mucous is able to surface, which is what that stringy stuff is. The doctor put these temporary collagen plugs in my tear ducts to "hold" the water in my eyes so they don't drain out of the ducts. It's only been a day and my eyes feel slightly more wet, but not a lot, but I've seen a big improvement with the mucous discharge.

Just to play it safe, I would go see a rheumotologist and get tested for Sjogren's. I am planning on doing the same to hopefully rule it out.

You can find the bag balm at some drug stores. It is in a square, green, metal container. I used it on my children's diaper rash!

I love bag balm!!!! I put it on my dry cracked lips before I go to bed. I have used it on my feet also, but it's soo gooey that you have to wear socks & I can't stand that. I get my bag balm at walmart.

I have found a wonderful product to use on my dry hands & feet. It's called Zim's Crack Cream (I know, funny name if you think about butt crack instead of skin cracks). It is the most wonderful stuff! I highly recommend it. I get it at walmart also.

Before I started taking Elmiron and Detrol LA I didn't have a dry mouth/eyes/nose problem. Now I have them all the times and I can also get a terrible nose bleed at the drop of a hat. Not just where you blow your nose and see some blood, but where I can be standing there talking to someone and my nose just start pouring blood for a very long time. My eyesight also seems to be going to the pits, too. I just had my contacts and glassses prescription updated a couple of months ago and now I can't see much of anything without extra strong reading glasses. My doctor told me that is one of the side effects and I had to take the good with the bad. I'm still waiting for the good.

I am using Avon's FootWorks Double Action Intensive Callus Cream on my feet right now and it is definitely good stuff! Cheap, too -- it's under $5.00 a tube :)

This past week I started with this terrible eye pain. Not just pain but shooting pain. I did go to the eye doctor and he blamed it on all the meds that I am taking. He just has me using the "fake tears" and it seems to be helping. I did go through the dry mouth thing when I first started taking the meds but it seems to have gone away!!!

Biotene gum & mouthwash are made for dry mouth. You can get it on the shelf at a drugstore.

Cetaphil wash is good for dry skin in the shower. Dove also makes a pink estra moisturizing bar. Keri Advanced Care for extra dry skin is a lotion I like alot. I think it's better than the Cetaphil lotion, unless you need something unscented.

I also use the Biotene gum.mouthwash, and toothpaste. I seems to help. I buy it all at Wal-Mart. The mouthwash I use throughout the day when I feel like my mouth is dry and feels nasty. I even used it in the middle of the night to keep my mouth moist.

Don't know what kind of heat you have but we had a humidifier installed on our heating unit and it helps us both somewhat, especially the sinuses in the winter when that dry heat blows. Mary
