Good Morning~! :hi:
I have a Dr. Appt today because I have urodynamics testing a office cysto next week. I was wondering though if it would be stupid to ask my uro for antidepressents. I was on topamax and wellburtin when I was younger when my parents were getting divorced and it worked great for me. What I was wondering is, how many of you guys have your uro prescribe the psych meds, and do you think he would think im a drug seeker? Thanks!

A normal antidepressant that most Icer's are on is Elavil. It works for most people. I dont see the harm in asking your uro about certain meds. It's good to ask and learn as much as possible. I've never heard of the meds you described. maybe someone else here will tell you some valuable. good luck with your testing! :grouphug:

The amount of Elavil they give to IC patients is not enough for depression. It helps with sleeping at night and gives some relief from the pain.
A lot of people are on Elavil and another antidepressent mostly because living with a chronic illness can make you depressed.
I do not see a problem with asking for either or both. I don't think he or she will think anything more than you are trying to feel better.
You could ask your Urologist or your primary care doctor.
