View Full Version : Afraid & Hurting

I found out Monday that I have a UTI and began antibiotics. I am still hurting. But I had to come back to work today. I also started gradaute school and feel like I want to quit already, I'll never finish if I am in this kind of pain. All I can do is cry and pray. This is my first flare up since I began my current medications. 7 months completely pain free and BAM, it's all over. I am at my lowest point ever. I admit I am throwing myself a pity party. Any advice or words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated.

I am very sorry to hear that you are in so much pain, and I really hope that you feel better soon. I have to say though, being pain free for7 months is awesome, and that in itself should encourage you! I odn't think I've been 7 days w/o pain. Here is the thread about my college experience so far. I think it will make you feel better to know that you aren't alone.

I am sorry you are feeling so bad. These flares do get to us physcially and mentally. Sometimes pain medicine can help. Hang in there, you will start feeling better.
Sending hugs, Trishann

I'm so sorry! I understand you feelings. With my meds I can go 2-5months without thinking about my IC! It's wonderful but then bam out of no where I get a HUGE flare(like right now) that won't go away and I get worried my healing is gone. It's hard to get through the pain after being pain free so long. Hang in there, I hope you can get back to where you were.

Hi, Curly, I totally understand! I do have high hopes for you, though - you said you had an actual UTI - that means there was a real reason for the flareup, it wasn't IC! That means once the UTI is totally gone (it may take a few weeks to really heal totally) you should be able to go back to enjoying the remission you had before the UTI hit!
Keeping my fingers crossed for you!
Blessings,

I am with ya too! And Lori is right, w/a uti at least it'll go away. It may take longer w/the bladder damage (meaning ic) but it will go away. Try to use the heating pad when home, get those ones that stick to ya so when u r out u can get relief (if that helps ya). And do your best to rest, may not be easy but its one thing we can do thats good for us. Take care.

Lori is correct. Only an IC patient would hope that it's an infection when the pain begins. I hope you feel better very soon.

I'm so sorry about your pain. I pray for you and all of us to some day be pain free. I have been in a flare for over a year now so I'm right there with ya. Please hang in there. The only thing that I can do is stay off my feet and that's the hardest thing for me cuz I'm extremely hyper. I have a microwavable heating pad, (has some kinda jelly in it). Got it at Walmart near Christmas time. But laying down all the time is really difficult. We must be a special group of people cuz GOD chose us for this disease for some reason which none of us knows.....yet. Someone is going to find a cure some day because of us.
Prayers and love to all:angel:

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. I still am not back to feeling really good, but I feel better today than I did last Monday when I went to the dr. and was told I had a UTI. So maybe I will continue to get better everyday. You have all helped me so much. May we all feel better soon.
