to start taking Senokot as I have ulcerative colitis but I have to "go" more often than every 3 days!
Tomorrow AM I'm going to try drinking a big glass of hot (not too) water when I get up. Any other tips? I had to do a lot of "forcing" today and it was none to pleasant - sort of started my day on the wrong foot as I have been doing so well lately. I am going to nip this in the bud!!
Is Prelief binding? How about baking soda? Thanks!

You might try a combination of Inulin which is a fiber and a pro biotic. The Inulin is taken by a lot of IBS and ICers and it works pretty good.
As for the constipation a lot of our IC meds are very drying and that sure dont help. I have found that constipation makes pelvic floor and VV much, much worse as it seems to put too much pressure in the area.

My urologists have recommended using Colace (stool softener) twice a day with meals. I prefer drinking a hot cup of pear juice with Fibersure mixed in it (inulin supplement), once a day. That seemed to work better.
Pelvic floor physical therapy helped as well. (Surprise benefit!)
Hope you feel better soon!

My doc has suggested Colace, but Benefiber seems to help things along. My problem is that with PFD, constipation OR diarrhea cause a problem. SO... I'm constantly looking for the perfect BM. Which is tougher than looking for the Holy Grail!

Constipation was a big problem for me, but believe it or not that problem was solved when I started instills. As a matter of fact, constipation is one of the signals that I have waited too long for an instill.
