Hi Everyone,

Just thought I'd update everyone on my progress with Cytotec. Unfortunately I don't have much to update on. I thought I saw some progress, but I'm still not sure. I'm still taking 100mcg twice daily. I had to stop if today though because I'm menstruating very heavily, and thought it may be contributing to it continuing longer than normal because Cytotec can have effects on the uterus. I am having extreme hormone issues that aren't helping my cause. I will see how it goes. It made me nauseous at first, but then it got better. Hopefully I will see more results as time goes by.

Hi, I'm sorry it's not working for you. I'm not sure how long the doctor recommends staying on it....I could tell a huge difference within one week....I hope it kicks in soon for you. I'm sorry it's not working.

Blessings,
Lori

Hey thanks Lori,

I'm not so sure it's not working yet because I did seem to feel better. I was told by a couple here that it could take a month or two. I hope I'm just a late bloomer!!!

I felt like the Cytotec made my periods much worse and aggravated my endometriosis. I developed several grapefruit sized cysts after taking it. Finally, ended up having a hysterectomy. Never took the Cytotec again.

Well I had to stop the Cytotec again. I ended up really sick to my stomach last night with diarrhea, and after really bad bladder pain. I was up and down all night so I didn't take it this morning. I will try again at supper time I guess. I feel pretty crumby!!! Blarg!!!! I have my uro appointment next Thursday. So far antibiotics for urethral polyps not working, and Cytotek is not seeming to do much either so far. I wonder if I ate something bad too? Can I cut a break here?

Have you considered going on a birth control to stop your periods? Right now I'm taking Junel continuously so that I don't even have to deal with my periods because my periods definitely agravated my IC even while taking Cytotec. Now that I don't have my periods anymore and I'm taking Cytotec, I seriously feel way better. I'm still taking 200mcg Neurontin everynight, I don't know if that is playing a part in how good I feel, but I don't want to stop taking it in case it is!

I had to stop taking it becuase I was bleeding way to much with my period. Also, I had the worse case of cramping from it too then.

Hey Sacausa-love your Beatles shirt!!! I have one too, but different. Anyhow back to the subject...

I have not tried the Cytotek again yet, and am currently not taking any hormones. What happens with me is that I try a new BCP and if it doesn't work with my IC the bleeding starts all over again so BCP are out for me right now. I am going to go to an endocrinologist to see what we can do. I'm tired of my gyno just playing around by giving me anything I want to try, and not trying to balance me out. I will repost this in the Hormone Thread seeing as we've kind of changed the subject from Cytotec to Hormones. I'll title it repost from Cytotek to hormones.

I am still taking one and a half tabs every day. The whole tab is at bedtime. I am doing fine. No burning, no pain.

Stomach discomfort in the beginning or any other symptoms were never enough problem for me to even think of not taking Cytotec. I NEVER want to go back to the suffering that I endured because of IC. I think I would have taken Cytotec even if it had caused vomiting every day.

As I said before, I will continue Cytotec for another year and then wean off. I have to be very careful that I am not taking advantage of this good med making me feel normal again. I am so often tempted to drink more than what I should of pop which I know is bad for my bladder. I have to remind myself to always drink lots of water each day to keep flushing everything through.

Please, everyone, keep telling others about Cytotec! It saved my life!

Thanks! I'm sure everything will fit together nicely once you have hormones worked out...

Thanks to you too!!!

I'm glad your doing so well Butternut. I got dissappointed that I had such bad stomach reactions. I guess we have to weigh the pros and cons. What makes us feel worse the bladder symptoms or the side effects of drugs!!! I will probably try the Cytotec again to see what happens. Right now I'm trying MSM. I'm already on Cystoprotek, and heard that Chondroitin, Glucosamine with MSM and Quercitin was helping someone here on the boards so I decided to add the MSM to see what happens.
