Hi everyone,

I've been diagnosed for a few years now. It was such a relief to finally have an answer. I posted here in the beginning but I've had two years of remission and somewhere along the line quit coming here. Now, it's obvious that as suddenly as the remission happened, it's gone. I don't even know what I did(if anything) that was substantially different than what I'm doing now. But, I can't ignore the symptoms any longer. I definitely need my meds again. Unfortunately, I don't have a urologist anymore and I've changed family doctors. I'm dreading starting over with new people. Also, I think I'm in a little bit of denial. I don't want to have to deal with this. Is there anything new in the way of care that I should be aware of?

Julie, I'm sorry your remission ended. I hope that you go into another long remission very soon.

I'm not really sure what might have changed in treatments. It seems that every doctor is a little different in what he prefers to use, so you could see a difference even if you do nothing else but go to a new doctor.

May I ask, what meds you were on before, and whether or not they helped you? That would help us to know what treatments there might still be that you haven't tried, for the future.

Blessings, hope you feel better soon,
Lori

Lori,

I was on Atarax, Detrol LA, Pyridium, Vicodin and Cymbalta. I hated the pyridium(mostly b/c of the color changes), but found that most days those meds would help. For awhile, I used a tens unit. That really helped, but we changed insurance and they wouldn't cover it. I've tried to stay pretty close to the IC diet but it's hard. Mostly, in the remission, my stress was at an all time low and I lost a lot of weight. Unfortunately, the pounds have crept back and the stress is up a little. My doctor at the time was older but immediately diagnosed me. He said I am a "classic" case of IC. I'm hoping that a younger doctor may have more current treatments.

Maybe going back on the regimen that helped before will take you back to feeling good again. I hope so! :kissing:
