Xanax????

Hi everyone my uro put me on xanax one time at night so that i could help sleep and it would alleviate some of the stress. i am not sure if it is helpign but i have been kicking around goign back on zoloft or something as i was on taht before.i came off of it in may and right after that was when the IC symptoms began. i am getting married soon and jsut want to be okay for the wedding and honeymoon1 i have eight weeks to go! please help. thanks

I am going off of Xanax right now. It does wonders for my anxiety, but it doesn't help me to sleep. I'm downgrading to Ativan, it seems to relax me more in the pm, as well as work for my PFD, and it's not quite as strong as Xanax, and a "cleaner" med, so my GP said. But I have been taking more Xanax than you...up to 4 mg a day for anxiety...it really works for that, but I was starting to lack emotion for anything, so that's why I wanted to go back to Ativan. I am also on an antidepressant, Cymbalta, but was taking Prozac up until recently.

xanax is actually one of my miracle drugs. When my bladder starts to spasm the xanax actually calms it down quite a bit. It also helps relieve my anxiety when I'm flaring. Discovered it by accident when a doctor gave it to me for anxiety.

I take xanax twice a day .25 (1/4) & it helps me. In the beginning it put me right to sleep, day or night, now my body seems to be used to the dosage & I find it helps spasms. I also, take Prozac & if I miss taking them in the morning, by noon I know it. Kathi

Klonopin isn't as strong as Xanax, but it does wonders for me. I've been taking it for about 14 years (in one form or another). Stress is a big reason I flare, so I have to take my regular doses. Also, when you're dealing with alot of pain, it calms you down so you don't cry a river!

thanks everyone, glad to hear that we are all in the same boat :) i will keep giving xanax a try...probably didnt help that i took myself off of it cold turkey a week ago cuz i was feeling better.... oops... :tsk:

been back on the xanax now for about a week or so, and feel a difference...only on .25 (1/4) mg right now, the lowest dose, at night and it heps me sleep and it also helps me to be a little less stressed about the IC as a whole. i have heard its addictive which worries me, but being onthe lowest dose is better than more than that, ya know?

Honestly, I've used xanax on and off for nearly four years and I've not gotten addicted to it at all. I do hear it's addicting, but it hasn't been my experience. Also, I do take very low doses when I use it...like 1/2 a table or sometimes a full tablet (.5).
