I had my 2nd Pudendal Nerve Block today at 4:30. For Diagnostic Purposes this nerve block has provided me with the most relief I have had thus far from any of the blocks I have had. I know it will wear off in a few hours but it's been a nice rest. He did the upper portion of the Pudendal Nerve this time. I finally have some relief in the Urethra area which was the largest and most disturbing of all of my pain as well as the Mons Pubis, Clitoris, The Inside and Outside of the Urethra, Labium Majus, Labium Minus, Vagina, and Anus. It feels numb in all of those areas but relieved on the inside of the urethra which is a HUGE RELIEF to me.
However I have numbness and can't feel my left leg or foot at all. This will wear off in a few hours and was expected to happen. I also noticed some fecal matter in my unders. Not too keen on this issue. I won't know what this means until I talk further with my Doctor and the Doctor in NH. I still have some more testig to do before we do anything.
It's just a real downer to lose control of your bodily function at 30 years of age even if it is only for a few hours.
The road feels very long ahead and I won't feel better until I talk to my Doctor tomorrow. If it's normal to have this happen as he said the leg will go away, then possibly that was normal too. I will feel much better knowing why it happend.
But overall the results were incredibly good findings today. We are REALLY narrowing the problem down now which is most likely Pudendal Nerve Entrapment. The sooner we know what it is, the sooner we can work out a plan of action for tackling it. I emailed the Doctor in NH to get some final testing done hopefully in March. I forgot to tell him about the fecal matter issue but I will after he emails me back. I dont' want to send him more than one email at a time.

I am so glad that you got some relief and that the doctor seems to be on the right track.
I am sorry about the problem you are having. I am sure it is a normal part of the procedure and will go away in a couple of hours when the numbing starts to wear off.
Please, please keep us posted and let everyone know how you are doing.
As always you are in my prayers

That is one of the worst things that can happen to a young person. My husband was 29 when he was paralyzed, and forced to have his wife, mother, sister, and others stimulate his bowels to move and clean him up. It does something to a person's mind to go through that, and I know he was never the same. :(
Hope all will get better as I am sure it will. Just a temporary reaction to the procedure.
Take care!

It's 12:15 am here. I am still waiting for my leg and foot to come back to life. My Dad has been helping me go from the bathroom to the bedroom and he brought me dinner as well. I could not ask for a better family to be dealing with matters such as this. It's very embarrasing to have to rely so heavily on others for basic care.

The numbness has worn off and I am able to walk again and have normal bowel function. I talked with Dr. W this morning and he said that I responded well to the nerve block and that everything that happend was completely normal and only temporary. The good news it that I did in fact respond. The difficult news is that if it is PNE, it's very hard to treat. He tried to call Dr. H but he is out of the office until the 23rd of this month. What Dr. W wants to do and feels that Dr. H would agree with him because they have been working together for several years is another pudendal nerve block. They will be doing the exact same diagnostic block, but this time they are going to put in a long acting steroid. They don't have great results with this but they want to try it while we are waiting for Dr. H to come back.
It's definetey worth a try. Dr. W is a gem and I am so glad he is the one doing the blocks. He is so patient and so kind and so caring. I couldn't ask for more from him and his team. The leg and bowel issues do not happen after the anesthetic wears off, so doing the steroid will not do that to me.
I am waiting for the office to call back with the next appointment.
Thanks for listening to me this week and supporting me! I hope you all have a great day!

Hi Kara, I'm so glad to see that you're finally getting somewhere! My (former) PCP told me he'd heard of a Pudendal Nerve SURGERY where they can essentially "numb" the whole area. This sounded appealing, and the very first thing I asked him was about being able to void on my own if there was no feeling. He said he didn't know & just wanted to let me know about it. I am unable to pursue any further treatment at the moment due to lack of insurance, but if I had it, I think I would go this route. I wish you luck, and keep us posted! Thank you Kara! ~ Chris
