I am on Elavil 20mg at night ( was supposed to titrate up to 30mg but food cravings too strong)! My uro just put me on Valium for a trial run as my main issue is an irritated/swollen feeling right at the base of my bladder/bladder neck. It is much better since starting the Elavil. Still there, but I guess I don't fixate on it all day. But still, it is quite annoying! Anyways, the valium is for suspected PFD, even though I had no trigger points on my physical exam. I really don't think it is going to work for me as I feel it is more of a nerve problem. He also suggested he may try me on Lyrica.
Anyone found anything that works well for constant urethral issues?

Good ol' pyridium is my stand-by for burning. Tums help too. I have also heard that lydocaine gel jets work, I have never tried them. A nice warm sitz or regular bath can be helpful as well.

Unfortunately, I have tried all those with little relief! The Pyridium used to work, long before I even knew it was IC, just thought I was getting an infection. Since it came on full time, it dosen't seem to work anymore. I even tried urethral suppositories with a numbing component, but little relief. I think the problem really lies in the base of my bladder, where I guess the suppositories don't work!
Thanks for the suggestions though!
