elavil...has this happened to anyone?!

i finally saw a good uro, and she said i seem to have more symptoms of pelvic floor issues and nerve pain, rather than IC (though IC is still a possibility). Either way, i was elated when she prescribed Elavil because i was finally getting answers and treatment! However, i took it for the first time last night, right before i went to bed because i heard it could make you tired. TOTAL OPPOSITE! i was up all night because my muscles were really jumpy and restless. i could not sleep. it was more like a caffiene jolt than a sedative! now its morning, and i'm starting to feel really tired. I had the same side effects with pain meds, but it was only temporary, so i'm hoping this was just a fluke. i suppose i could take it during the day, but i'm scared because it did make me a little dizzy, almost like my head was tired, but my body was wide awake. i'm feeling discouraged because i want to be able to take this med :(

What dosage did you start with?

I did the same thing with elavil --- my blood pressure shot up to dangerous levels along with the hyper feeling. If may be that your body just doesn't tolerate it.

i started with only 10mg. i suppose i could cut the pill in half and try that, but that seems like such a tiny does that it would be wasteful. i know elavil is the gold star for nerve pain, so i hope i can end up tolerating it.

I did the same with 10mg it didnt do anything, but make jumpy..So the dr increased it to 25 mg, now I am knocked out in 20 min..
But we are all differant, so call your dr and let him/her know what happened..
