I was officially diagnosed with IC yesterday but suspected I had it for some time.
Mine started out with a spinal injury that made urinating difficult, I would sit on the toilet forever before urine would come. This improved after my anterior spinal fusion, but did not go away.
I had terrible abdominal pain after this fusion where they push your insides to one side to reach the spine. One year later they finally figured out it had caused pelvic congestion, endometriosis, cysts and interstitial cystitis.
I had a LSH hysterectomy one month ago and thought the IC had gone as the first three weeks were mostly symptom free. It came back in one day after a calzone with a big bowl of marinara sauce and a glass of red wine.
Just started Elmiron. Had sex for the first time last weekend and woke up a few hours later in excrutiating abdominal pain with terrible burning and itching. Will never use KY warming jelly again. The burining and itching was helped with a liquid peppermint/hemp soap which was an impulse idea that helped tremendously.
I'm taking Elmiron, Hydrocodone, tizanidine, neurontin, thryoid, estrogen patch, baking soda and prelief.
These supplements and meds are expensive! Does anyone recommend CystaQ or BladderQ or any other herbs strictly for the terrible abdominal/low back pain? I can't afford much and want to make a wise choice.
Thank goodness for this website!
