I am 29 and newly diagnosed. I have been suffering from IC thinking that they were just UTI's for over 10 years. Part of me is relieved to know exactly what is going on and another huge part of me is sad and overwhelmed. I am the mother of a 2 year old and it is really challenging to deal with the pain and frequency while still trying to be a loving, attentive mother. I am so worried about the effect this is going to have on him. I was thankfully symptom free during preg and nursing so I have only newly had to deal with this. I would love to hear from any mothers out there and how you dealt with juggleing the two.
I would also love to know if anyone has any insight as to whether my being symptom free during my first preg means that I will be fore any future pregs.?
Also, what effects do the treatments and meds have on preg and babies?
Thanks for listening! I need it!!

I know what you mean by it being a relief and feeling frustrated at the same time now that you have been dx. I think many of us went years with being dx incorrectly. I am somewhat in the same boat, but I don't have any kids yet. I am 34 yrs old and recently married. I want to have children badly but wondering if it is even possible at this point with all of my conditions. I wish I had some insight to give to you, but unfortunately I don't. I have heard people say that their symptoms go away during pregnancy or that they may increase during the last trimester. I know for me the scariest part is having to go off all of the meds that I am taking. You may want to do some searching on the site for previous responses and stories regarding pregnancy. I posted on this once and only got one reply. Maybe people are afraid to talk about IC and pregnancy or something, I don't know. I just wanted to hear what people had to say... good or bad. Well good luck with everything!

HI,
I also have a 2 year old and he is very challenging. I also have a 10 year old and 14 year old. From what we think my IC started in 1992 after my first c section but went undiagnosised until 2002. I did fine with my second pregnancy in 1995-96 and m y 3rd one in 2003 spiralled my IC downhill. Not everyone has problems with pregnancy

Thank for writing! I just wanted to say, if you want to be a mom than go for it. There is no bigger blessing, and they don't care how many times you go to the bathroom in one day they love you anyway.
Best of luck to you, I hope all your wishes come true!:smile tee

I dont know if I have IC yet but I have severe pelvic pain and frequent urination along with painful urination, I have 2 kids a 3 year daughter and an 8 month old son. and I know what you mean by trying your best to be the best mom you can when you are in pain, I really didnt have too much pain or frequency when I was pregnant either, probably about my 7th-8th month of pregnancy seemed frequency and pain were up but I just linked it to the pregnancy.. and then after my 8 month old started weening himself my problems all started all over again, I've been having these problems for a few years now and as well linked it to UTI's since antibotics seemed to help for a few weeks my 3 year old seems to be understanding when im in pain and tries to cheer me up. but the hardest is when our 3 year old wants to go to out to parks or just for a walk when Im in really bad pain I try to go out with her and deal with the pain and frequency when we go out. sometimes going out makes me feel better, sometimes worse, hope you feel better soon and have a nice weekend. :)

Kudo's to all you Mom's out there with young children and this disease. When I was diagnosed in 1994 my boys were 11 and 14 and all I kept thinking was gosh if I would have had this when they were younger I don't know how I would have done it..I mean it was difficult enough at their age going to softball games and football games and worrying about finding a bathroom all the time, but atleast they could understand that Mom has to "pee" A LOT......and with the PAIN, I can't imagine having to hold infants all the time or get up with them all night and then deal with them all day after having been in pain all day and night. I have two grandchildren now, 4 yrs.old and 4months old, and I get really tired after being with them all day...I find it so hard to hold the baby for a long period of time because of my pain, so I really do give Kudo's to all you Mom's out there having to deal with little ones, and this stupid disease!
