I am in my first month of using Clomid. On the last day of taking Clomid, I began to flare. Before taking Clomid, I was in a remission and off of all IC meds since TTC. Had a uroanalysis (sp?) and the doctor thought it looked suspicious for an infection and put me on Macrobid for 7 days. I am feeling a little better, but still having that pressure feeling. I feel that the Clomid had something to do with all of this.

I know that some of you have also flared on Clomid. Did the flare go away after stopping the Clomid? How long did the flare last? I'm worried that I've really messed up my bladder now. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Clomid flared me right around the time I ovulated. Right after Ovulation around day 14. What would happen is that I would ovulate and then after that my progeterone level would sky rocket because that is what is supposed to happen with the Clomid. While my progesterone was sky high (right up until I got my period) so that would be about two weeks, I would have severe Urgency. Then I would get my period, the progerterone drops way down for that and the urgency would go away. So for me it was the Progesterone that was killing me from those Fertility Drugs.

All of them did this to me. I took Clomid, Lupron, Follistim, Cetrotide, Ovidrel, and Prometrium.

I hope this doesn't happen to you. Talk with your doctor about this and see what he/she has to say about it. Maybe there is something they can do.

Sincerely,

Kara

I didn't actually flare when I took Clomid ( I only took it for 2 months) but flared very badly after doing several rounds of IVF drugs ( this was before I was ever diagnosed with IC). In fact, I think the Estrace I had to take with my last pregnancy totally did in my bladder/urethra. It is slowly healing although my daughter is now over 1! I don't mean to scare you but for some ICers those fertility drugs will kick up your IC. I know mine, like Kara's, was very aggrivated by the Progestrone as well. I would always get IC-like symtoms ( i thought at the time that they were infections) right before the start of my period. By day 3 or 4 of my period it would go away. Unfortunately taking all the homones to sustain my pregnancy really messed my bladder up. Everyone is so different though. I am hoping that this is a lucky month for you!

Thanks for the replies and support. The culture came back that I had e coli in my bladder, so I did have an infection. But I still think that the clomid had something to do with it all. I just finished taking Macrobid for 7 days, so hopefully the infection is all cleared out. I'm hoping for good new later this month, I'm afraid to try the clomid again.

I don't have any personal experience with Clomid, sp? . But I do get the Bladder infections all the time. Sorry to be so blunt, but more sex, can really stir them up and if you are trying to have a baby,I'm guessing you are having more sex. It stinks!. So it could be the Clomid, but It might not be the reason at all.

On another note, good luck with the clomid, my sister took it, and got pregnant on the 2nd month of it. Her son is 7mos now. :smile tee

I'm on my second round of Clomid and haven't had any problems with it causing flares, so I wouldn't rule out something else that may have been the trigger. I would confirm with your doctor about clomid enabling you to get an infection, but I think it's doubtful. As an ICer, many of us are just prone to frequent infections that have nothing to with anything we've done.

It's so frustrating:cussing: >Meemer
