Can anyone tolerate bacon? I have started going to the bathroom about three times an hour. Can't seem to stop! Not sure what I have done. The only thing I have done different is eat bacon every morning this week and take Tylenol Sinus for a sinus infection. I really wanted to start eating bacon in the mornigs for a protein to help regulate my sugar because I am allergic to eggs. Does anyone have problems with Tylenol Sinus or bacon?
Thanks!
Maryann
Hi there, Maryann,
I can have 1/2 slice of bacon, but only as part of a meal and with Prelief. Any more bacon than that, or not sufficiently "diluted" with more food as part of the meal, I have IC problems with.
Another patient posted about using the new Hormel nitrate free lunch meats, pan fried for a breakfast protein. She used the plain turkey or the plain ham.
I also remember at one time, someone posted a recipe for homemade sausage patties (ground pork, salt, sage). That might be ok too.
If you like tree nuts, almonds are a good IC-friendly protein. Cottage cheese too (very tasty on a 1/2 bagel) for protein.
Can't answer on Tylenol Sinus, but I can say that regular Tylenol really bothers my IC. If you really need it, you could try taking it with Prelief & see if that helps.
Hope you find some breakfasts you like & that you're feeling better soon!

I can tolerate a couple of pieces of nitrate free bacon. I use Mucinex for a cold.
Bacon doesn't seem to bother me at all, but Tylenol Sinus will. Anything that has antihistimines or anything like that will really up my frequency. I'd try each of them separately and see which is bothering you for sure. I'd hate to have to give up bacon! Hope this helps.

HI! I would say it's the meds. I couldn't (still can't) tolerate any type of cold, sinus, or flu medications...it stinks! I could only tolerate bacon if it wasn't smoked...still can only tolerate a tiny bit of it.
Good Luck.

I'm okay with a couple slices of bacon usually.
If the Tylenol Sinus has a decongestant in it, that might be the problem. Many ICers say that decongestants are horrible IC irritants.

The nitrates in the bacon bother me. The nitrate free lunchmeats still have MSG, so I can't eat them either. Just an FYI in case MSG bothers you!

I suspect the tylenol sinus --- it probably contains a decongestant.

Certain types of bacon used to bother me. Now I eat anything I want (still can't have anything with MSG).
Anyway, try Corn King Low Sodium Bacon. Seems like the "saltier" bacons used to bother me.

we go to a butcher and get a 'montreal style bacon' here - it's fresh and thicker cut than store bought pre packaged stuff (which also contains smoke, nitrates, etc.) - it doesn't seem to be a large trigger, if i eat too much of it, sometimes i'm a bit uncomfortable for a short while...
i find anything like tylenol or motrin (or advil, etc.) bother my IC big time - if i get a severe migraine, i will suffer through the increased peeing to relieve the headache - but only if it's really bad...
good luck and feel better soon
