I take 40 mgs of Elavil a day, and I'm thinking of going on birth control ("the pill"). Is anyone else on the pill and Elavil at the same time? And is there a specific pill that is better? Any info on this would be great! Thanks!

I take Necon 1/35 and Elavil, no problems for me either.
I got IC when I quit this pill. When I restarted it, it really improved my IC symptoms (unfortunately, the IC didn't go away, but hey, I'll take the improvement!).
Hope it works well for you too!

I'm on Elavil and Loestrin 24 Fe. I think the combination has really helped my IC -- my worst times in the past were during my period and now I barely get a period at all. During the first cycle I got a lighter period but still definitely had the IC-related period pain, but it has gotten better and better. A friend of mine was on OvCon for years and her doctor felt it really helped her IC.

I was on elavil and alesse for about 2 yrs. No problems at all. Originally went on HBC to control highly irregular periods. When I came off I self-regulated. That said I am now 2 weeks late (not sexually active so no babies). I'm thinking I might go back on. Who knows, maybe it even helped the IC (altough some women find that it worsens their IC).

you might want to think about getting your hormone levels tested in order to find out what bc pill would be good for you. sami4 is the one to ask about that if you want more details; i dont think she would mind if you pmed her for more info.

Hi-
I've been on Elavil and Alesse for about 3months. I feel pretty good, except for some tight muscles and hip/pelvic floor issues I'm working on with Physical therapy.
My estradiol has been tested twice, at 2 different times this month. it's super low...I may have to change pills; I'm seeing 2 docs next week. we'll see. other than muscle tension/some spasm I feel good on this combo.
Libido is low, though...

If you find that your IC symptoms are worse when you have your period, I'd definitely recommend Seasonal or something similar. I take it, I get my period only 4 times a year. It has helped my pain tremendously as so much of my symptoms seem to be hormone related.
