After an absolutely miserable 2 week flare despite sticking with the diet, I'm beginning to wonder if the Rozerem (prescription sleep med) is contributing to my pain? I stopped my Hydroxyzine HCL and began Rozerem 2 weeks ago?!

Anyone else here on Rozerem?

I stopped it two days ago and went back to my 50mg hydroxyzine HCL and I finally seem on the mend...not there yet, but on the way. Maybe I need the Hydroxyzine? Maybe the Rozerem is an irritant?

Is there a list of prescriptions that are known to irritate the bladder?

I've found that nasal decongestants are bladder irritants (pseudoephedrine, phenylephrine).

Any other medicines I should avoid?

Thanks.

The hydroxizine is said to be extremely effective for IC. One doctor I read, said that if he had only one med to treat IC patients, Atarax/hydroxizine, would be the one.
That's a pretty strong statement. :)

I just started taking Rozerem 2 days ago and I've had a horrific vulvar/pelvic pain! I was just discharged from physical therapy with successful results so I don't know what's going on. I did take Zyrtec for about one week but stopped due to the oversleeping and grogginess. I did not have any vulvar/pelvic pain while taking Zyrtec. I haven't taken any other meds since Dec 2006.

I have read it is a good med for IC, but it didn't help me one bit. I stayed in a sleepy daze until right before my next dose was due.

It may be the Rezeram.Several of the meds I was on had citric acid in them and the ones that were purple and blue and lime green had side effects too.
Nearly all my meds are white now or very pastel yellow. Meds were more of a problem for me that food was. You can look up the ingredients of your meds on the Internet. Many drugs have other preservatives that you could be reacting too as well.

What was your dosage amount?
