Not in Philly (went to college there, though :) ), but if you're willing to make the drive to Bethlehem I know the best IC doctor in the world there. PM me if you are interested.

Wow this is actually the first time I have ever seen anyone post from Philly. I've had IC for about 22 years and was diagnosed 3 years later. Have any of you actually met anyone with IC?

I know one person with IC, and as luck would have it, she's my pain management doc, so she totally gets it.

But looking back, I strongly suspect that my college roommate (in Philly :) ) had it or has it; we've lost touch. She used to go to the bathroom about every ten minutes and then she developed pelvic pain that no one could diagnose. Her symptoms were just classic, but I didn't know it then so I guess I wasn't much help. She was kind of having psychiatric problems at the same time so she wasn't all that reasonable, and was always self-diagnosing and self-treating. Finally she concluded that she had endometriosis as a result of taking birth control pills a few years earlier, and that it was a punishment from God bc. the Catholic Church doesn't allow birth control.

I wish I knew where she is now. I wonder if she ever got the help she needed. I know if I hadn't gotten help or relief in all this time (we graduated in 1988), well, I don't think I'd still be here.

I suddenly feel so fortunate to have found great doctors and the support on these boards!

ps -- Since no one on the boards will admit to being from New Jersey, I've decided I'm an honorary Philly girl. After all I did live there for four years, and I'm only an hour away. Hope y'all don't mind!
