Grrr...I was in remission for six months. (After a five month flair!) Last week I came down with a confirmed UTI (nitrates in urine culture) and have been on levaquin (sp?) for two days. Between that and a yeast infection I'm back in a flair. My symptoms (pressure, frequency, burning) are still there even after two days of antibiotics. How long do these types of flares usually last? What do the rest of you do for them?

I'm doing the following...
Antibiotics religiously
Almond milk (really is soothing for me)
Pyridium
Tums
Lots of rest
Just tried the banking soda trick (yuck! But if it works...) Be careful with that though---you can't take your antibiotic within two hours of taking tums, sodium bicarb, etc.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Sounds like you're doing the right things....add a heating pad, maybe?
I wish I could say tonight is your last night of flaring, but I can't. That's the bad thing about this. You never know when one will start or end. :(
I hope you feel better really soon! grouphug

It does sound like you're doing the right things. The only things I can think of that you didn't mention are drinking plenty of water and using a heat pad.

Sending healing thoughts,
Donna

The only thing I could add is the blue pill (forgot the name of the actual brand name RX), but this pill turns your urine blue, and it worked for me, but differently than the pyridium, it also helped the frequency and retention somewhat.

I hope you feel better soon. I can look in my medicine cabinet if you need the name of the pill.

Hugs, Sandy
