Hi, i've been taking trazodone for five years because of insomnia (not IC related) and i started to wean myself off of it, and then there was a period of about a month where i pretty much stopped taking it. Out of nowhere, my occasional mild urethral burning became severe, and all of a sudden i had cramping bladder pain and my life was hell! i still never associated this new surge in symptoms with stopping trazodone, but the other day, for the hell of it, i started the trazodone again. my pain symptoms have been cut in half! i am not pain free by any stretch, but i noticed that my "everyday burning" has gotten much better, though i still have lots of pain on contact (sitting on hard surfaces, tight pants, sex, etc.)
I dont know much about trazodone, but i know its an older class of SSRIs but does anyone know if trazodone is chemically similar to elavil? I'm excited because if trazodone is giving me succes, maybe a more notorious pain relieving antidepressent such as elevil would be even better. i'm just suprised because i didnt realize trazodone was considered a pain reliever, but i recently read that it was. i'm just hoping to try somthing even better.
