Hi everyone!

Im not yet diagnosed officially with IC but my doctor suspects it now. I had several uro tests even took lots of antibiotics but no infection was found. Then I had a bladder ultrasound but the doctors could see nothing wrong with it since I guess an ultrasound is not really enough to diagnose IC. Im really confused however in the sense that my most serious symptoms are frequency and urgency so intense I feel like crying all day! Pelvic pain is also present but it rarely appears! I have to go like every 5 minutes and after two to five min I feel that my bladder is full again! My doctor told me that IC does not involve pain always right from its start but that pain is a later stage of IC. So frequency and urgency might still be an indication of having IC. Is this true? Different symptoms can occur at different stages of IC?

also my mouth is dry all the time probably because of not drinking too much water and peeing all the time sth which is so frustrating!!! :(

Flor,

I dont know if early stages of IC does not cause pain or not, But I have read alot of peoples post who have mild IC and are in alot of pain, also to my understanding IC is not progressive..
But if you are looking to find out if you have IC, the only true test to detetermine this is a bladder Hydrodistention.

I was dg with moderate IC, and I only have pain every now and then, but I have frequency alot!! and also I have the urge feeling , even if I just went..

Another thing that has helped me is staying away from the problem foods..
Caffeine, Chocolate, Citris, and anything with Vinegar....You should check the IC diet out...

I didnt realize some foods can cause frequency, but I know now its true, just by watching closely what I eat...

Well good luck to you, and if you need anything just please let me know:smile tee

If you're withholding water in the hope that it will help with the frequency, that's not a good idea --- what it does is to make the urine more concentrated, which causes more irritation and frequency.

It sounds like you have found a doctor who will be doing the necessary testing to either diagnose or rule out IC for you. Hang in there. I think the time before diagnosis is the very worst.

The Patient Handbook at http://www.ic-network.com/handbook will help you learn more about IC. You'll find the diet there, which is something you can begin right now; it might help you feel better.

Warm hugs,
Donna
