I am 25 years old. I was diagnosed with IC about 5 months ago and put on Emirol by my GYN. My symptoms sounded to him like that of IC. For 4 months the Emirol worked with no complications or "flares". About a month ago my symptoms returned. For those suffering from IC, I could really use your help. Does my experience sound anything like what you go through? My pain comes out of nowhere and goes 0-10. It is in the low pelvic region. Pain lasts about 10-15 minutes with about 10 "episodes" per day. It feels like I swallowed razor blades and they are churning in my stomach. I do not have to urinate when the onset of pain happens, I do not have to be doing anything at all, no food triggers my pain, sexual intercoarse hurts, I can find nothing that helps, pain medication does not dull my pain completely, the pain wakes me out of a deep sleep. Lately I have been breaking out in a sweet and my heart is racing. I have found that rocking is the only thing that keeps my mind kind of calm:( I had a laproscope done in May that showed no signs of Endometriosis or Cysts. I am beginning to feel like IC is not the cause of my pain. I am seeing a Uralogist in the middle of January just to get a second opinion adn then I will go from there. Any thoughts from any of you would certainly help ease my mind. Thanks.

hi,

sounds more like it could be pelvic floor dysfunction, it's very painful and causes a lot of discomfort like what you described. you need someone familiar with this treatable condition to diagnose. could be a knowledgeable gyn, urologist, urogyn, or experienced physical therapist. other things you might want to look into if you haven't already are stomach issues(gastroenterologist). you didn't mention bladder discomfort, which is great. I believe you can have pelvic floor dysfunction without having IC.

i hope u feel better soon.

Is your pain like menstrual cramps? That was exactly like what mine was like - I thought "what the hell" am I getting my period again - after menopause??

Thankfully that part of my symptom puzzle is pretty much gone.

Just like with the old days of having period cramps - a heating pad and curling up in bed like an embryo was helpful. Good luck!

Menstral cramps is what my IC pain feels like, but its more of a stabbing feeling with burning, like sharp gas pains and yes it comes out of no where and at anytime, I have endo to, but its more of a dull ache pain..and with the endo it comes around the time of my period..
