I was prescribed Cytotec today for the first time, and just wondered how long it would take to see a difference if it is going to help!! I'll keep everyone posted about my progress!!

Hi!
Just wondering how you are doing on the Cytotec? What were your symptoms before?
Hope it is working for you!
Melinda :)

Hoping that it helps you. For those it helps, it seems to make a difference within a month.
Blessings,
Lori

Hi Everyone!! Happy New Year!! I just got back from Montreal Canada where I was visiting my parents so I'm a little late responding.
Melinda: My md has allowed me to try 100mcg's twice daily, but will not increase the dose. (I will talk to her about this in more detail at my next appointment). I am not really seeing any difference that I've noticed yet. I thought things were improving, but then I'd have a bad day. I think it can take a couple of months. I will keep you all posted of my progress. It has been extremely difficult for me to pinpoint what helps and what doesn't because it's constantly changing. Somedays urethral burning and less pressure, other days it's all pressure and pain in pelvic area. I do get very discouraged, but am continuing to try!!!

Hey Lori,
How are you doing? Thanks for posting how long it takes to help most people because I was curious myself. I can't really tell right now, but I think I'm improving, but it is too soon to say if it is the Cytotek or if I'm just having a good day (that does happen sometimes)!!

Glassd, I started out on 200 mcg three times per day and felt relief the very next day. After being on Cytotec for almost a year I am now only taking 100 mcg during day and 200 mcg at night.
I am doing great!

Glassd,
Hang in there, it might take awhile. Maybe your Uro would up the dosage to what Butternut was taking & it might help even more! I am too plagued with the constant urethral burning/irritation. I just saw DR. Moldwin (my Uro) yesterday & asked him about Cytotec. He really did not know much about it! But he is willing to try his patients on different things if you can show him the research. Right now he wants me to try Valium as he did not see signs of PFD when he examined me, but thought I still could have internal tightness. I am not crazy about trying it as I have 2 young children, but I need to see if it would help. I am also on 20mg of Elavil, but he wants me to come off it in a few weeks to see if it is helping me or not. He suggested I may also try another med for nerve pain, Lyrica, but first he wants me to try the Valium.
Good luck & keep us posted!
Melinda :)

Once I started Cytotec, I didn't need anything else. No more Elavil. No more Advil. No more med for burning or pain. Nothing but Cytotec. And of course my blood pressure med, vitamins.
I hope it can be this way for everyone!

Thanks Melinda, Good luck with the Valium. I find relief with Ativan, but wonder if Valium would be a better choice because it's longer acting. I am a very tense person, and I'm sure it doesn't help my bladder at all. I got a 15 min. massage at the airport while waiting for my delayed plane (3 hours delayed, ugh, and they lost my luggage), and the masseur said I was so tense he couldn't move my neck muscles!!!! Hope all goes well for you!!
Hey Butternut I'm in Indiana too!!
