Hey
Great idea for topic. I can't tell you how many times I have to see strange doctors (meaning strangers not necessarily weirdos:lmao: ) and by the time I get through the list of illnesses they fall off their stools in either overload or disbelief. (I always want to say "it's quite elementary Watson...look at the patient's autoimmune history"...) Anyway...I know my docs want to run when I come in except that I am usually very nice. I adore my GP and even though he is across town from me I won't change docs b/c he knows all my illnesses, fears, quirks, and medication regimin. I can't even imagine trying to start this with a new doctor. Besides, my doctor really trusts my judgement and what I know about myself. He isn't condenscending. Last year I had a horrible reaction when we tried to switch to fentanyl. I broke out in hives and eczema blisters and my face was swollen. We were at the beach. (in November...very cold) I called the first allergy doc I could find (because I thouht I had eczemza...BAD) and she switched me to a specialist who took my medical history. over the weekend she went to some confernece on accupuncture and pain relief w/o narcotics. (that's what they thought it was) I kept trying to tell her I had tried that but she was so keen to this guy's session she wouldn't listen to me. I even told her where the bladder meridians were in the body and how complicated they are and that they have to stick a needle in the apex of your pubic bone. (you have to be shorn for them to find the spot easily and I just wasn't into buying 15 refills of blades, thankyou) She sent her report to my doc, he said "you should give accupuncture a try" I rolled my eyes and said I was all for eastern medicine, used it for migraines but ...explained what i just did ...he said "oh, she didn't mention that" I said " yeah, she didn't let me get word in edgewise". Just nodded and kept going. guess that's a compassionate bedside manner technique they teach. (she's young enough to have gone through that training....grr)
Anyway....sorry for the rant..like the listing...it's awesome.
