I've never posted comments on a forum, but I thought perhaps I could help someone. I have interstitial cystitis and fibromyalgia. When I lived in Texas my doctor for IC would not give me anything but anti-depressants for pain which didn't help. Vicodin helped me, like most people, but I stopped taking it because I was afraid of addiction. The doctor for fibromyalgia prescribed Ultram which made me feel terrible. Also, I took Elmiron. I have now been living overseas in Czech Republic for almost 2 years. Elmiron is not available here, nor is the anti-depressant. I was really suffering but then I found a doctor here who prescribed Tralgit 200 plus Atarax 25mg. I didn't realize until I read on the internet that Tralgit is another name for Ultram. But, for some reason, the Tralgit doesn't bother me like the Ultram I took in Texas. I have no pain when I take these two drugs together. I take 1 and half Tralgit in the morning and 1 Atarax. Then at night I take 1 Atarax and a few drops of Algifen in some water. Algifen was given to me by a local gynocologist to help with pain and sleeping. The Atarax is a relaxant. Atarax and Algifen are not addictive. I've never had to increase the Tralgit, and I've been on it for almost 1 year now. I sleep very well with the Atarax and Algifen. Where I live they've had little experience with IC. I don't have a lot of options. Also, I've been able to eat and drink just about everything. I'm a missionary/teacher overseas. I don't know if these suggestions will help everyone, and I would suggest checking with your doctor. I must give credit to the Lord God for doing a great deal to help me with this problem. Stress does make it worse, and He gives me comfort. Sometimes I don't take any meds at all, and I don't feel withdrawal symptoms. However, when I start to hurt, I just go back on the medicine again. I pray for all of you with this disease (My Texas doctor said I must call it the "condition", not a disease.).
