Okay this is so embarassing but I'm worried.

I've been diagnosised with IC since April of this year and started Elmiron in May of this year. In May I also started using Lexapro, Buspirone, and Trazadone. I taken SSRI's before and this combo seems to working really well for me.

Now my psychiatrist wants me to try a new drug Doxepin to slowly replace the Lexapro, Buspirone and Trazadone. She said is would help with urine retention but it may lower or elevate my blood sugar (I have pre-diabetes so that doesn't sound good to me, not to mention I'm watching my thyroid which is something else Doxepin could effect). However, I have read that it can also cause urine frequency and I'm not sure if urine retention is such a great thing for my IC. For instance, when I am in pain I like to drink a lot of water and use the bathroom frequently since it seems to flush out my bladder and cause me less pain. I'm worried urine retention may hurt my ability to pee and flush out my bladder.

Okay there is all that, but I also had a problem this morning. I was sleeping having a nice dream about being a Justin Timberlake concert when suddenly in my dream I had to find a restroom and when I did I could finally release all my bladder pressure and pee. But then my dream got weird and it was like I still had to pee and I was in pain doing so. Needless to say the pain woke me and low and behold I had wet the bed. I'm so nervous that this will become a common thing. I mean I usually wake up with a full bladder that is slightly painful, but I've never actually lost control of my bladder and wet the bed! So maybe I do need something for urine retention? I mean is bed wetting normal with IC. One of my top fears since getting IC is that I will lose control of my bladder completely and have to start wearing diapers to bed. I'm going to cut off water a 9pm from now on but what if thats not enough? I'm only 27 and I don't want this to haunt my life. My husband was so understanding but it was totally gross and degrading.

I need any help or information you could give me. :help:

Loss of bladder control is not usually an IC symptom. It could be medication caused, however, so I suggest you talk with your urologist. Are you taking any herbal remedies or supplements? Sometimes they con't co-exist very well with prescriptions.

I know this was very upsetting for you, but it could easily be something that will never happen again. Your doctor will be better able to respond to your concerns.
