Has anyone tried the Lidocaine Patch (Lidoderm) for pain control? My urogyn. prescribed it for me to apply to the lower abdomen but I'm kind of scared to try it.

Hello, I use them all the time for my lower abdomen and lower back. !!I have no bad effects from them at all.:)

I use them too. They dont really help my bladder pain alot in a direct way, but do help indirectly, by helping my fibromyalgia pain. They just dont seem to numb deep enough to get to my bladder, but they do help my fibro pain on my sides and lower back alot. Also, my Dr. has me cut them in strips and place them over my trigger points for my fibro and they help there too.
These are non-narcotic, so they are much safer than narcotic pain relivers. The main thing is to remember they can only be worn, 12 hours on and 12 hours off, because if they are worn more than that, you can get a toxic amount of Lidocaine in your bloodstream. The max dose is 3 patches per day.
Hope they help you too! Hugs, Amy

I use them for lower back pain but they do not seem to help me with the bladder pain. They do help with the back pain. I usually will put one on at bedtime.

I have them as well. Can't say that they made any difference either. I am not going to get them refilled since they are not on my preferred meds list, therefore they cost over $50.00 for 30. The best thing that has worked for me is the lidocaine jet gels, but I have gone to 2 different pharmacys and neither one of them can get them anymore. They each have their own supplier. I liked them since when my urethea was irritated, I just used the jet gel and put lidocaine directly into my bladder. It only lasted for about 10 to 15 minutes, but it normally gave my pain meds a chance to kick in.
