The day before my hysterectomy my surgeon told me that if I wanted he could do a nerve ablation rather than hysterectomy for the severe pain from adenomyosis ... he didn't want to do it because of the problems with bleeding I had and said if I couldn't feel what was going on it could be really bad. So, now after that I was diagnosed with IC and I am wondering what nerve ablation does for this? or tries to do. My main problem is with crippling pain especially in my low back.

I've had the nerve ablation done for the same thing, adenomyosis. It never helped any - my periods are as painful and as bad as ever, sometimes even worse than before. I don't know exactly what they do other than they sever the nerves to my uterus. I did some research on this after it was done, and from what I read, it doesn't help many and most doctors are skeptical about it.
Like I said, from my personal experience, it did nothing for me.
I hope you have better luck than I did.
