i'm not sure if it's the dietary changes kicking in, or only drinking evian water... or the atarax kicking in... but recently, when i upped my elavil dosage up to 30mgs from 20mgs, my symptoms seem to have decreased dramatically. i am not symptom free, but there are a couple hours in the day where i forget i have i.c.
maybe i'm just more used to it?? but i don't think that's the case....
it's strange... i really feel like things seem to have gotten a bit "better" since i upped my dosage to 30 mgs. i just started on elmiron and atarax 2 weeks ago, so it can't be those two things yet can it?? it must be the elavil?? well... i hope other people are having success out there with it... cuz it seems to be helping me a bit!!!

Some ICers are helped significantly by elavil. I'm glad it's working for you.

Elavil has helped me alot with pain and seems to help some with frequency.
I went from 50 mg. to 75mg. and it is amazing how overnihjt I was 90 percent better. Now I do experience some burning, but nothing near how I was last summer. I don't care for the side effects, but it is better than pain. I was able to go off all pain meds and OAB meds. It truly is a lifesaver for me.

Elavil's working great for me too. On 25mg now, but thinking of upping it to 50mg soon.
When I just took 10 mg, my symptoms decreased by half (60+voids a day down to 20-25), then when I went up to 20mg, down to 10-12x a day & sleeping all night). So, yes, it is possible.
Just watch how much you are eating. When I went up to 20mg, I gained 30lbs in 6 months. When I tried 30mg a night, I was awake all night hungry (this after a pot roast dinner, 2-12oz glasses of milk, 2 desserts). So, clearly, for me Elavil affects my appetite. I gave up on the 30mg after 2 days, because instead of not sleeping due to peeing, I was not sleeping due to inappropriate hunger. I still take 20mg & thank God for it. (I've lost 10 of the 30lbs I gained & am trying to lose at least 10 more, by being very aware of what I'm eating & making conscious choices about it).
Hope you continue to feel better & better!
