I'm scheduled to have an in office cystoscopy in a few weeks and I'm getting really nervous. I'm recovering from what OI guess was a kidney infection (only because I had terrible back and flank pain and lots of blood in my urine, althought I don't think any of the docs I saw actually did a culture) I've been taking antibiotics (CIPRO< Leviquin) for several weeks now and the discomfort is not a lot better and my urethra is burning badly still.
Finally saw a uro and she thinks I may have IC because I have a long history of infections and blood in urine as well as trouble passing urine, but often no bacteria found.
So after about 7 years of this (I"m 23) I'm finally having a renal ultrasound and cysto. I'm getting really scared cause a lot of ICers say that it's really painful and may not tell me anything anyway. My uro is only going to use a topical anesthetic! Is this normal? My urethra is constantly very irritated, should I ask for other drugs?
Thanks for listening.
