I will start pf therapy tomorrow. They will put a rectal probe in my vagina. I don't have trouble with my urine coming out. no urine retention. I do have problems with my rectum closing up during a bowel movement instead of relaxing. they want me to do kegels to. will this be good for it or not. i am sort of worried.

I have been doing PT for two months now and have the same problem you do. My rectum would hurt so bad when I would have a bowel movement. PT will definitely be worth it and you have nothing to worry about. Just take some IB profin or something before you go to keep the pain away. Other than that, after a couple of weeks you will be feeling so good that you'll think your PT is a God.

Hi,
Good luck and dont worry. If your lucky your pt might be a really cute one.lol I did the pelvic floor therapy for about 3-4 years...itts pretty much painless but if you get itchy or burning it may be from the lubricant they use with the probe. Whatever is in it bothered me so did ky but they did find one that was good. I started out with basically no pelvic muscle tone and could not differentiate my pelvic and abdominal muscles and at the end still to this day I have excellent pelvic floor muscles. My insurance company did pay for the box you bring home, it was hard to get covered they rented at first but just bought it outright since it would have cost more to rent it. I know you can purchase a new probe for them. If you find yourself in need of a box let me know you can have it, I still have it put away.
Good luck and take care,
Suzanne

I did PT a few years ago and it was torture for me. As gentle as the therapist thought she was I would go home in pain and the pain would escalate and continue for days. I finally gave up because of the pain. Maybe they should have been doing it differently. What is a box? My therapy was mostly internal manual therapy. There was some external with ultrasound and some floor excercises. Lately my PFD is in a bad state. There is horrible pain and buring after BMs....that's when I know it is acting up. I've been taking ativan but it's not enough. I even dared to take a hot bath, which is something I have done in 2 years as my IC did not like it. I did OK today
though .....whheeeeeewww.
I have an appt with my dr on Tues..( I haven't seen her in a while) and want to discuss botox. I am at the end of my rope with this pain. :(
